[Resolved] Zoomcar — unfair damage charges levied and threatening legal actions | |||||
I booked a Zoomcar in Mumbai from 18 December to 21 December. The booking ID was JPS6FLOFL. The car was an orange Tata Tiago. During my trip, I was hit by a backing car in a jam which damaged my bonnet with a dent on it. I agree that booking the car makes only me liable for any damage. My mechanic told me that this can be fixed within 1000 rs but Zoomcar app says 4000 for severe bonnet damage. Now the place where I picked up the car was some open roadside parking along the highway in chembur. At night I dropped the car there and there was no attendant there to check the car. I honestly marked the bonnet damage and thought the charges even if levied would be 4000 at max. I happily left the car along. Next day I saw outstanding damage charges of a total of 9000! It mentions damage charges of 4000 X 2 = 8000. Why twice? No explanation. And further 1000 rs cleaning charges have been unfairly levied. How? The cars outside was dirty when we picked it up, since of course it's on the side of a highway and then we left it as it is. Again whole night it was on highway roadside parking. No one to check it. And then they say cleaning charges. I emailed them immediately to demand an explanation. They only said charges are fair and no explanation. I again emailed them saying I won't pay Unfair charges. They didn't reply. Now they emailed me saying they will initiate legal proceedings if I dont pay the whole amount. But again no explanation. I demand to see a CCtv footage of what happened to the car. How can I be responsible for cleaning when the car is in some illegal highway side parking with no one to look after? How can you levy twice the damage charges when you mention 4000 on the app? And can you show me receipts of damages you got repaired? It DOES NOT COST even 4000. This is apparently a well known Zoomcar technique these days to extract money. I used to still suggest Zoomcar to friends but I would never use their service again. Even we can take the legal route.
