[Resolved]  Spice Mobile D-88 — SPICE D 88 NOT UP TO THE MARK

I puchased new spice d 88 handset, but iam shocked to see the low grade software used in the mobile. the camera says its 1.3 mega pixels whereas any one can make out by taking pictures its not 1.3 pixels. i compared with one of nokia mobile with 1.3 and another one sony ericsson 1.3 mega pixels camera. the worst quality of image was shown by spice d 88. on the other hand when ever i dial number from cdma as soon as call is conected i am getting a un known number on hold!!! actually when i accept this new incoming call it shows no numer and finally both the calls get disconnected. and when i call back on this unknown number i get note - no number to dial!! what the hell is this. it happens all the time whenever i am dialing from cdma. whereas gsm is fine!
can any one help me out about where and to whome contact fro upgrading the software or to change the handset!!!
iam fedup with this third class quality of spice d 88! how can this people launch a handset without proper quality check, etc.

I have purchased Spice D-88 mobile 6 months back. Last month it suddenly started getting problem of charging. So i have given the mobile to Hotspot (Mr.Khalid is the contact person) which is named as authorized service center of Spice. 1st week they have given the reason that they are working on it. 2nd week they told we are not able to repair, need to send the handset to delhi and it will take 15 days. When i get back after 15 days, still mobile has not been back from Delhi. On that day i met with person Mr. Abhishek who is heading the service center. He again tell me to come after 2-3 days. After 3rd day they have given a new reason that handset is not repairable, so they will provide me replacement. The replacement they have provided is in so bad condition compared to which i have given for repairing. In this way they are cheating customers. What necessary action should be taken against this kind of cheaters.

we have need the customer service contact no for change the battery of Spice handset.
I have purchased Spice X-1 3 months back. Last month it suddenly started getting problem in internet connection, when i use to open internet connection by Opera Mini i use to get a message "Error Not enough memory" i removed all my games but my problem was not fixed. I wanted to remove Opera V4.0 so that i can install new Opera V4.2 but it does not allowed me to do so.
What can i do now Plz suggest me some idea.
Whatever they say about D88 is absolutely alright. I wud like to add some more -

1. you will get missed sms.
2. Call conferencing feature does not work at all from day 1
3. Quality of incoming audio is pathetic.
4. Battery drains off very fast.

and many more problems.
I have bought this mobile after one year of saving and now stuck up on this nasty instrument.

I am compelled to address you the following legal notice;

That, I had purchased a Mobile Hand Set imported and marketed by your company M/s Spice Mobiles Ltd. The Hand Set was particularly known as Spice D88n. The Hand Set was first purchased by me from your Dealer M/s Magic Mobile, Sitabuldi, Nagpur on 8th of July, 2008.

That, from the very first day of purchase, the Hand Set experienced various problems some of which are as under;

a) The Phone in CDMA Network always failed to give delivery reports even when the option was selected. This was a regular feature and delivery reports were received only as exceptions rather than rule.

b) Another very grave defect in the Hand Set was "mistaken ID". Owing to this defect in the Phone Hand Set, message sent by person "A" was displayed under the name of person "B" and regularly the messages from one sender used to get mixed with that of other people in the Phone Book.

c) Similarly, the Hand Set has an uncanny defect of not displaying the received SMS. Almost more than half of the SMS failed to show any text in the Inbox. Moreover, some of the messages which remained visible earlier also turned blank after some time.
d) The Phone also suffers from weak Networks in both CDMA and GSM formats and there is continuous breakage in voice and the audibility of voice especially in GSM was very bad. The outgoing voice quality is also very bad normally and gets terrible with the usage of the hands free device that is provided with the handset by you.

e) The handset has been provided with the hands free (loudspeaker) option and the same could not have been worse. The quality of sound in the hands free mode is totally awful and one can barely hear the other person properly.

f) As if the above problems were less, the phone used to hang at least once in 2 days and then the phone used to restart automatically after sometime.

That as mentioned at the beginning of the notice, as these problems were identified almost on day one, I approached your authorized Service center at "Spicy Solutions", B 10 Anjuman Complex SADAR NAGPUR, where Mr. Anand Sahani agreed to give me a D.O.A requisition whereby my first phone was replaced with a new one. However the horror of "Spice" continued and all these problems pertained and I was given another D.O.A by your service center and the phone was replaced for the second time again, but the problems in the phone were too many to be resolved and the defects with the phone were never rectified. Thus presently, after 2 replacements I am possessed with the Spice Dual D88n Hand Set bearing IMEI No. [protected]. You may note that I have preserved photocopies of all previous bills and DOA requisitions.

That, the frequency of the phone getting hanged as described earlier is increasing every day and I had been to Mr. Anand Sahani for redressal of my grievances. Upon this, he refused to give another DOA requisition but said that he upgraded the software in the phone, but in effect, the phone still full of all the above defects, and in fact has only worsened with the said up gradation.

That, I had been to New Delhi in relation to my professional work from 23rd of August, 2008 to 26th of August, 2008. The phone continuously malfunctioned during this period and I lost many important calls especially on the GSM Network. This has caused serious prejudice to my work and also has tremendously increased my bills in the roaming. The phone was giving so much trouble that I ultimately had to purchase another hand set from New Delhi so as to continue using my mobile number.

I have absolutely no iota of doubt that the mobile hand set being sold by you is absolutely defective and that even though you are in complete knowledge of this fact, still you are openly selling the same in the market.

The above acts on your part are a classic example of deficiency in service and you can be held liable for the same before the District Consumer Forum, Nagpur.

I therefore, call upon you to immediately arrange to refund the entire value of the phone which is Rs. 6825/- (Rs. Six Thousand Eight Hundred Twenty Five Only) that is paid by me, failing which I shall be constrained to exercise my legal rights and sue you before the Hon'ble District Consumers Forum, Nagpur. You may be warned that in the event of such dispute being filed against you, I shall also be entitled to claim damages and compensation over the actual value of the phone.

Any such unpleasant action shall be entirely at your cost.

I have purchased 2 days before Spice D88n. On the very first day The hand set is getting too much heat just 5 mins of call. Because of that one I felt too much head ache and ear pain. And the voice clarity also worse specially in traffic.

Spice D-88 Gold is the world worst class mobile. Its sound is very slow. It is just like a dustwin.

Spice — Spice D88n facing problem from day one

I had bought Spice D88n IME [protected] oin Sept 2008 from Hot Spot. From very begining, this handset is giving me problem. Keys does not work. Handset get hang for 7-8 hrs and then start working. It was sent 6 times to service centre. Each time with assurance that this problem would not repeat. But of no use. Now this problem is occuring thrice a week. how could one manage to work with this handset. Its just 6 months old fone and i had bought with carepack also. Now i want replacement of this model as i am sick of going to hot spot again and again. But they are refusing to replace the model. It is still lying in service centre.

Useless mobile.. Useless service
I regret my act now, i am stupid, i bought this mobile despite of bit of research! Sad part is before buying it haven’t considered the negative side of the coin, this D88n is dam worst phone i saw this dam cheap mobile than a chaines mobile, software is too ridiculous, we can’t even add new number to existing contact, .. i thought to buy this just to have both networks up on one mobile, but now worse is both are down, i am using Airtel & Tataindicom, i tried to restore factory settings but no use

i can't even find my IMEI number on spice online-warranty page... :(

I totally agree with the complain, as I am also the sufferer.

I had also bought D88n & from first day it is giving some kind of weired problems, lacks basic functionality to attend calls receive/send & store messages.

1) SMS'es come as blank ( even though you know that the message was not blank )
2) if you delete one sms from the inbox all other sms'es get mixed (i.e you will see one sender with the message content of another, some messages get their contents completly blank.)
3) Inbult Opera mini & java applications do not work on GPRS or CDMA.
4) Phone will look as if in standby mode (normal no call mode) but will not show any signs of calls coming, the callers will hear ringback tone & consider that you are not answering.

I have lost my Spice mobile phone bearing Serial No. [protected] which was having with Reliance sim card with telephone no. [protected] issued at karanja dist washim ( Mharashtra). I am trying to contact Reliance Customer Service to inform that I have lost my said mobile. So please help me if any person inserts another sim into it.
