Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation [IRCTC] — charging credit card without issuing ticket | |||
During booking of railway ticket online by using my irctc ID madhob23, I have been charged with the fare of Rs 4025 from my credit card thrice without issuing ticket on 13/07/2018. The fact is that a passenger may opted for lower, middle or upper berth at the time of booking and aIccordingly I have put my options in consonance with the age of my family members. But after making payment of the fare the site cancelled my booking (but credit card charged) with showing message as "Choice of at least 1 lower berth not met". However when I contacted irctc customer care they told me that lower berth might not have been possible to allot and the fare charged will be credited to my account within 3 to 4 days. Now my grievance is that if a passenger can not be alloted to a specific berth then why not it be known/checked during the very process of booking instead of charging and making known it thereafter. Therefore I request the authority concerned to look into the issue seriously by considering the inconvenience faced by a large numbers of travellers whilst at outstation and losing their money though momentarily for 4, 5 days.
