Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation [IRCTC] — status shown on the booking site on reservation of tickets | |
I have been observing a vast difference on the status of reservation displayed and the status after booking the ticket. Today i booked a ticket with pnr no. [protected] for journey from ern to ltt. At the time of booking at 7.30am, the position on screen was wl6 but the reserved ticket showed wl24/25. After some time at 7.42am when i tried for another ticket in the same train and stations, the position displayed was wl9. On contacting your customer care on staff by name suman informed me that the position shown is of irctc and not of railways. If this is the situation, certainly irctc is misguiding the customers with wrong information there by prompting the customers to book on their site and levy cancellation charges if the customer wish to cancel ticket realising the actual waitlist position. When irctc is the part of railway and the customers are encouraged to book through irctc, providing wrong status to the customer is highly irregular and need attention of the concerned authorities to provide correct and reliable information to the customers.
