[Resolved]  Amtec Engineers — Fraud on ICICI Credit card reward points

I received a call from someone from ICICI & he said I have some unclaimed reward points in my ICICI credit card & I being a good customer, they wanted to refund it back in the form of gifts worth Rs 6, 999/-. When I said I don't want, he stressed on the fact that I don't need to pay any money and it will be credited against the reward points. When I asked him about the genuiness of the caller, he said I could check the message which he had sent, its from the same Id as of ICICI. When I checked the message, it was indeed from the same Id and I was forced to believe him. He said that the Amtec company will call you regarding the gift and they will stress that these gifts will not be adjusted against any rewards; So please do not tell them that this is reward points adjustment; but just tell them that it will be a debit on my card. He also confirmed that there will be a temporary debit now, which will be adjusted against my reward points the next day. Finally when the statement came, I could see the debit of Rs 6, 999/- on my card and they also sent me soem goods worth not exceeding 2500/- along with some coupons from [protected]@once, God alone knows whether those will work either. When I spoke to the ICICI customer care, they made a very casual statement that 'this is a fraud mam, Please go to your nearest police station and file an FIR. The cyber crime department of police will take care of this'. I have give a written complaint to the police station and the SI said he will call me in a day or two after speaking to some senior experienced officers, but haven't received any calls from them yet. Not sure if the police complaint has any significant role in this episode, but one thing I am sure - Hence forth, before using or applying for an ICICI Card, I will think twice. How is ICICI sitting idle on this fraud. My Card number/ phone number ... all that information was shared with ICICI and was supposed to be confidential; how can a third person use that and cheat the customers and ICICI has nothing to do in this regard? I have blocked my card and will in no ways be confident in receiving a new card, unless I see any action being taken on the Reward company & teh callers who are using teh name of ICICI. To the general public - please please be aware of such incidents
