I have made on and off purchases from hobbylink japan (hlj.com) over sometime, firstly with my HDFC card and then more recently with my Axis bank card with international usage activated. It is hobby goods/collectibles store which opened in 1994 and has consumers spread across the globe. The store's FB page itself has around 400k followers.
Initially everything was fine. But from 23rd March 2019 onwards I started receiving notifications from the website mentioning that the transaction was getting declined and couldn't be processed. On contacting Axis Bank's customer care, I came to know that the website has been marked as unsecure and hence my transactions were being blocked.
Firstly, what I do not understand is if the website wasn't secured then why wasn't it blocked from the very start. Secondly, if all the transactions were fraudulent in nature then what stopped me from raising a complaint on the very first transaction. What right does Axis Bank have to just block a website without any prior notification to the customer.
These japanese retail websites tend to blacklist consumers who default on payments and thanks to Axis Bank's retarded online policing I am about to have a big monetary loss cause I am unable to even pay for the shipping of already purchased goods with my own money.
