Bajaj Auto — Unauthorized service charges and fraudulence in service - Bajaj Discover 125 2012 model

Hi,

I have had the worst experience in providing my bike for general service to Aadhitya Motors Service Center (Authorised Bajaj service center) and was physically and mentally damaged due to this.

I own a Bajaj Discover 125 Disc (2012 model) and I'm the first owner.
Since it was 8 months since the bike was serviced, I had to give and decided to go with Bajaj authorised due to good faith over the brand. I must mention here that I was so happy with the bike and yes to that because I'm a owner for more than 8 years till date.

I gave the bike to the service center located near my place in Kuniyamuthur, Coimbatore on 24Dec2021. When the person asked if there is any major issue, I said none and the he wanted to take it for a ride.(self start was only used) After ride, he came up with issue such as follows:

1. Throttle Cable issue, Auto Choke
2. Front Fork Oil Leakage.

I was not satisfied with both the issues he mentioned. Auto Choke for which he said he is able to recognize those and said might be we need to change auto choke. But with regard to Front fork oil leakage he mentioned like we might need to change the entire inside and when asked how much it costs, he said 1500 and I was shocked. But since we don't understand due to the technical names they use to mend us, I said fine and asked if there were any other issue. He said that's it and he mentioned to give it either by 25th or 27th.

After that, on 27th morning I called the service center and they said they've not started and will provide the bike by that day evening. I had some knowledge by then about Fork OverHauling issue and asked him again as to why that cost was for which the explanation given was very vague. I also asked for information regarding as to why the general checkup was being charged 1500/-. There was again no satisfied proper answer and still I proceeded since I need my bike in good condition. I also requested him to call in case if anything more is to be done.

Later that day late afternoon, he called and mentioned that Chain Sprocket and Brake shoe needs to be changed where the Chain sprocket would cost 2500/- and break shoe 177/-. Also he mentioned that spark plug needs to be changed which will cost another 500/-. I was shocked and decided to do only general check up and service and nothing more.
I also warned him stating if anything has been changed without my knowledge, I might proceed with serious actions.

Because, when I gave the bike, everything was running well without any issue and only few months back I had changed the chain sprocket. And recently Brake shoe was changed so there was no need of those.

It was around some minutes before 6 pm and I called and asked whether the bike was ready for pick up. They said all has been done and I went to the service Center. Bike was just open and nothing was done. After a bit of light tensed talk I waited for another half an hour as the center requested. After waiting I was seeing not even a hand was touched by the team. I was standing outside the showroom in front of the display for more than half an hour and none seemed to care.

After then, by 6:45 pm I had to shout and felt so bad to bring to this service center and they had no answer other than lack of labour. If they dont have enough labour they must not take bike for servicing. After a tough talk with the team, they said they will deliver it to my home itself after the work was done. Since all I needed was bike, I came back hoping the bike to arrive.

After 8:30 pm, they came to location and delivered. Here comes the major part as follows:

I tried self start and it didn't work. The person who brought said that the battery was down and he had to charge it at the time of servicing. It was unbelievable since I had never faced that problem before. Also bike was facing a lot of sounds inside. When asked the reason, he said since they have tightened the sprocket the sprocket is weak which is making this sound.

The only thing felt as servicing was water wash and Oil leakage which was due to Gasket clutch cover. Everyone in our home was irritated due to various other factors:
1. Only cash but they were not even having 20/- change.
2. No online mode of payment.
3. Not even a pen to sign for their need.
This is not how an authorized service center will be I suppose.

I said him to take the bike and make it proper regarding self start which he accepted, he didn't move without me providing the money.

Since it was already too late, I paid and came back to check the bill.

It was surprising to see GST on labor charges on maintanence and repair since it is already exempted service. I also checked with the SAC code for confirmation.

Not just that, more than 1 as mentioned in Quantity under Labor invoice. Attachments have been made for proof.

Just a glance at labor bill shows that Bajaj has some unique money making idea out of customers who give the vehicle to service.
For each of the items replaced they bill separate Labour charge.

For example, Gasket Clutch costs 57.01 with GST for which Labour charges is 150.46.

I need justice.
