I purchased a mobile phone from Yellow Mobiles in Kollapur Mandal on 1/12/24 through Bajaj Finance. The issue now is that even though I have paid two EMIs on time, they have blocked some of the data and functionalities on my mobile. Before purchasing, they informed me that the mobile would have a Bajaj Finance lock system and that they have the right to block the mobile if EMIs are not paid on time. I agreed to their terms and bought the phone.
However, now they have blocked certain features on my mobile, making it unusable in several ways. For example:
1. They have blocked the option to connect my mobile to a laptop.
2. The reset option on my mobile has been blocked. (If I forget my password, I cannot reset the phone.)
3. I am a software engineer and cannot download some apps that are essential for my work.
4. I am unable to activate the developer options.
None of these restrictions were informed to me at the time of purchase.
When I approached them to resolve the issue, they told me that they would unblock the mobile only if I pay all the remaining EMIs at once.
If I had the ability to pay the full amount at once, why would I purchase the phone on EMI? I could have bought it outright with the full payment.
I consider this a personal data security breach.
I request you to take appropriate action, penalize them, and ensure that I am compensated for this issue. Additionally, please help me restore my mobile to function like a regular phone without any restrictions.
Thank you.
