I am writing this with deep distress and urgency.
On 13th June 2025, I boarded Bus No. 15E (KA57F0088) from Mahila Seva Samaja at 4:47 PM and got down at Kumaraswamy Layout. The conductor on duty subjected me to extreme verbal harassment, humiliation, and public shaming throughout the entire 50-minute journey.
He started by scolding me vulgarly, questioning my right to avail the free bus service. He loudly said I had “no yogyatha” and that I was a “useless piece” for daring to travel on this bus. He accused me of immoral behavior, saying I did “vulgar stuff before getting into the bus, ” and continued to degrade my character, personality, appearance, and even insulted my parents.
It didn’t stop there.
He continued his verbal assault publicly, ensuring all passengers heard. This was not just personal abuse — it was a clear pattern of harassment. I’ve seen him behave this way with other women too. He specifically targets female passengers, speaks vulgarly about their clothing and background, and humiliates them in front of others.
This is not just misconduct — this is verbal abuse, harassment, and psychological trauma, all happening inside a government service meant for public welfare.
Just because someone wears a uniform doesn’t mean they get to abuse their position and harass women.
I request immediate and serious disciplinary action against this conductor. I am willing to come forward, identify him, and file a formal written complaint if required. If BMTC truly values its women passengers’ safety and dignity, this matter must not be ignored.
Please treat this as a serious appeal for justice.
Sincerely,
Harshitha M P
