CIDCO — Mitigation of Air-pollution at residential areas of Roadpali-Kalamboli

Address:Mumbai City, Maharashtra

Pungent and suffocating gases emanating probably from Taloja-MIDC Industrial areas have made the lives of Roadpali, Kalamboli residents’ miserable especially during the nights and early mornings. Since last two years, CIDCO has issued permission and approvals for occupancy to hundreds of new residential buildings in and around Roadpali – Kalamboli residential zones. However it appears that the concerned authorities have seldom looked into the serious health hazards being faced by the residents and to mitigate pollution hazards associated with neighboring industrial units. Due to this, Air-borne diseases like bronchial asthma and allied respiratory diseases among young children and aged persons are increasing day by day. Roadpali Residents are constrained to keep their doors and windows closed to avoid pungent smell and suffocating air pollution especially during nights & early mornings. In fact, residents are also constrained to install Air-conditioners for elders and Nebulizers for kids due to the presence of obnoxious gases with pungent smell originating probably from the Taloja Industrial Units with wind flow. As we have already submitted our grievances to The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) authorities thru. email complaints on 04.11.2014, we also hereby request concerned authorities of CIDCO to take-up the matter with MPCB authorities more appropriately for taking corrective actions to mitigate the hardship being faced by the residents from such pollution hazards to the extent possible at Roadpali, Kalamboli residential areas and make it pollution free residential zones for safe & healthy living. Hi, I am a resident of kharghar sector 16/17, I have been facing allergic health problems, due to air pollution, caused my chemical hazard released from Taloja industrial area. Especially in e night very pungent odur is released. These companies are making at risk the health and life of the residents. The civic authorities should ban the release of these chemicals into the environment as its a threat to human civilization staying close to the industrial area. I need to know whom to contact in such situations. Thanks.
We will need strong forum to tackle this issue in big way. I had complained to CIDCO and they have asked me to send pictures of these companies. How can I get the pictures as proof for the smell released by chemical companies. This is rather job of CIDCO in collaboration with PCB

In kharghar.. There is much air pollution at night after 10 pm. I have found the source of these emmisions. The main source is from illegal brickworks operated at kharghar behind railway station/ near kopra village/ behind liittle world mall ( in open space). The ambient air flow is from belapur to kharghar. This is creating miserable air to breath and suffocate our childrens, self, aged mother fathers.
Some higher authorities must find some solutions over it otherwise these pollution will consume their and their family lives too soon.
e shifted here in amarante last month from andheri totally unaware of d situation from before.
These smell n pollution level has made life miserable.
Indeed we r giving slow poision to our kids by making them breathe such air.
Few ques..
How can authorities remain immune n dumb when ppl r complaining? U can see online complaints dating back to 6+ yrs
Why still no chk has been taken against d industries releasing such posionous gases?
Why r ppl not joining hands agaist such a big issue n not giving a proper fight back?
Why r most of d ppl just bearing in d name of bad smell n suffocation? Might be they r unaware of d actual seriousness of the issue..
Pls refer to the atatched images to understand the seriousness of the issue... i have uploaded the pollution level in our area as shown by purifier and a reference chart!!

Hello all,

I have sent so many complaints about the toxic gas. But no response till date. Every day kids and elders are inhaling this toxic gas. There was so much concern about the inhaling of Corona virus. But what we are inhaling everyday is a slow poision which has a high impact on lungs, heart and brain. But is any body bothered? No, not all. I feel like Roadpali, Kalamboli are gas chambers. we were concerned about immediate death during corona period. But this toxic fumes like rotten egg smell is a slow killer.

Again no body will bother to listen and today these toxic fumes will fill the space of the air.
