[Resolved]  Agarwal Packers And Movers — goods in transit damages claim not paid

Complaint to Pehredar of CNBC Awaaz- 14/10/2013 Dear Sir/madam, My household goods were transported by M/S Agarwal Packers and Movers from Indore to Bangalore and delivery of the same was taken by us on 25/6/2013. The booking was made in the name of my son Pranay Gadodia. The goods were insured against any damages in transit. It was told to us that in case of damages the claim will be paid within 10 days. But after lot of follow up the some urgent replacement was given by them and it was told to them that it is not possible for us at this age to open all the packings in a short time(there were 90 packings). As other packings were opened, one plastic 3 layer rack and one large photo frame was found damaged. It was informed to them immidiately, this is on 3/7/2013. (Mr. Gyanendra Singh cell no [protected] at Bangalore). Again this time also after lot of follow up their carpenter came and found that it cannot be repaired and I made a note on their damage sheet about the two damages worth Rs 550/- total. Though here the cost of the damage is not much, it is the attitude and treatment of one of the reputed transporter who claim to be Limca book of Records holder. Later I reminded them on1/9/2013 and 19/9/2013, about the pending claim amount of Rs 550/- on which they had written on 2/9/2013 and 19/9/2013 respectively, that the checque will be dispatched within a week’s time. But till today I have not received the checque. Moreover when I tried to see on their website for accessing a senior responsible person, it is not providing further access and address to any senior and directors etc. So you cannot go beyond this point. This has compelled me to write to you. One very poor state of practice is that these people collect all the charges before starting from the source station. And when such things happen you go on chasing them for claims. There should be rule, that the transporter cannot collect not more than 50-75% of the fare and rest will be collected after satisfactory handing over the goods to the consignee.
