[Resolved]  American Express Bank — High Level Complaints

My name is R. SRIPRIYA. I took a Personal Loan with American Express Bank, Account No: 71974. This Loan was sanctioned on 24th July 2002.

Loan Amount: 200,000
Loan Tenor: 60 Months.
EMI Amount : 5188 Rs.
Last EMI: 15th July 2007.
Repayment Mode: PDC.

I repaid 55 EMI Through IDBI Bank (Greams Road) and for the last 5 EMI I Issued Cheques from Chennai Central Co-operative Bank (Anna Nagar Branch- Chennai). We had sufficient fund in IDBI for 56th Instalment however we got a call from Ajay –Delhi ([protected]) that the 56th Instalment cheque had been returned by my Banker( CCC- Bank Anna Nagar) due to closure of account. Immediately we requested him that we will pay the due EMI to the nearest Branch in Anna Salai for which he agreed and we did .He also stated that AS the account has been closed they will not present the remaining four cheques and requested us to pay the same before the due date every month in AMEX Bank – Anna Salai which we had agreed and also paid the same. Ajay stated that after 60th EMI we will get the Loan Closure Letter along with Excess Interest Rs. 2389.79, which Amex had charged, as per the Repayment schedule chart given by u’r Loan department.

As I didn’t get the Loan Closure Letter from Amex I walked to the Annai Salai Branch they stated that they can’t do anything and asked me to contact the Phone Banking, hence I called u’r Phone banking spoke to Raman – Supervisor on August 30th 2007, He stated that I need to pay Rs.3250 for the cheque return charges (Last 4 cheques). I explained him about the discussion that we had with Ajay. Raman informed that he will place a request to the Collections Team and I was promised a callback within 48Hrs. No one turned up. This shows the Kind of Ownership a Supervisor takes.. I again called up u’r Phone Banking spoke to Deepa (Executive) around first week of September she also stated me that a request had been sent to collection Team and I will get a callback within 48 hrs. When I asked for their direct number she gave me[protected]/38). Again AMEX gives false promise to its customers No callback hence I dialed the number that Deepa that gave , to my surprise they stated that the number belongs to Cookie-Man. …. False Information given to customer again , just to get rid of him from the call.

I later got a call from Mr. Srinivasan (Assistant Manager) – Collections Team Gurgaon. He asked me about the issue I explained him the entire story again. He asked me to FAX him the Repayment Schedule[protected] ,promised me that will action on the same within 3 days if I fails to get any communication I shall directly reach him on[protected]. Hence I had Faxed the schedule on September 12th (15:45 Hrs). No response from Mr. Srinivasan. I tried calling him in his direct numbershowever there wasn’t any response too.

Hence I again called up your phone Banking on September 29th 2007 spoke to an Executive she stated that As Mr. Raman (Supervisor) had already dealt the issue I will receive a callback from him on Monday about the status… BACK TO SQUARE ONE… No call back YET AN OTHER EXAMPLE HOW AMEX UPHOLD’S THE PROMISE THAT IT GIVES TO ITS CUSTOMER.. I called back again on October 01st around 03:00 PM spoke to an Executive SWETHA and requested her to get me Mr. Raman online for me . There was an absolute Dead Air for almost 15 mins and the call got disconnected………

I need someone from AMEX to GETBACK to me with the status and let me know about the Loan Closure Letter…

Contact Number:[protected]
Mobile: [protected]….

Note: Worst Part is that I had spent almost more than 5 hrs speaking to u’r Executives and they said that the Phone Banking Number[protected] is not a TOLL FREE Number. I request AMEX to refund me the amount that I had spent.
