[Resolved]  BSNL (Evdo USB Data Card) — The worst customer service!! The reason why Japan built itself so hi-tech in 50+ years from scratch and India did not!!

I'm an IT trainer and fortunately or unfortunately I teach customer service to people and I experienced the most terrible customer service ever. I walked into the Koramangala, Bangalore BSNL Customer service office to apply and collect a USB Data Card for my laptop. I had to visit the office 7 times and every time I went there they would tell me they have no stocks or they'd tell me that there computers are not functioning so they can’t communicate to the concerned dept. The old lady there even shouted at me for being persistent and showing up so many times, although later she tells me that it happens because she has too much work(Not what I saw when I was there for hours unless you call talking over the phone a lot of work). I eventually got the USB Data Card and now came the issue of activating it. It's been two weeks now and calling customer care number and getting a hold of one person (and that was the only time I got to speak to someone) revealed that the work order was not sent from the customer care office in two weeks. There phones are never reachable and I don’t like to meet them just to get yelled by them.

My opinion as a customer service trainer:
1. Customer Service is an attitude and not something that can be enforced on one
2. Please get rid of people who cannot and I mean literally cannot multi-task certainly for the fact that they are old. I don’t mean offense against elderly folks and I certainly respect them but there's a limit to what we can expect from them
3. Someone has to make a conscious effort to improve the system. It doesn’t happen on its own, It’s not evolution its revolution that this country needs
4. I see a lot of complaints against different departments in BSNL and a Google search will reveal hundreds of blogs that has everything negative to say about BSNL. My question is, what has any of it achieved? Here I am putting down a complaint and I wonder what it's going to fetch me. I sure hope this write up makes a difference somewhere, somehow.

nic/evdo — wrongly a lot no. NIC TO EVDO

I AM APPLIED FOR CONNECTION NIC DATA CARD 144 KBPS SPEED AND RENT RS.250/- P.M. AND DEPOSIT RS.1850/-
AND COMMERCIAL MANAGER EAST KANPUR ADVICE ISSUE WITH DIRECTION :- ONE NIC DATA CARD ISSU BUT SDO KALANPUR KANPUR NUB. ALLOTED IN EVDO NO.[protected] AND RENT RS.550/-P.M.

I HAVE PURCHASED ONE EV DO DEVICE FROM BSNL FEW DAYS AGO. DEVISE IS WORKING PROPERLY BUT THE WAY BSNL'S SALES PERSON AND JTO INCLUDING OTHER OFFICIALS IN THE FRONT OFFICE ARE PROMOTING THIS DEVICE AND CONNECTION THAT IS WRONG. THEY HAVE CONVINCE ME SAYING THAT THIS DEVICE WILL GIVE ME AT LEAST 400 KB/s SPEED WHICH IS EQUIVALENANT TO BROADBAND. I HAD REPEATEDLY ASKED THEM BEFORE BUYING THE PRODUCT AND CONNECTION ABOUT SPEED AND THEY HAVE CONFIRMED ME EVERY TIME THAT THIS IS BROADBAND. BUT ACTUALLY IT IS GIVING NOT MORE THAN 160 KB/s (Kilo bits). NOW I HAVE TO PAY THEM 3 MONTHS SUBSCRIPTION CHARGE (WHICH IS COMPULSORY) FOR SUCH A THING WHICH HAS NO USE, BECAUSE I ALREADY HAVE A 256 KB/s BROAD BAND CONNECTION THRU LAND LINE. I REALLY FELT THAT THEY ALL ARE GIVING UNTRUTHFUL STATEMENT TO COMMON PEOPLE, WHICH IS VERY UNFORTUNATE AND UNEXPECTED FROM A REPUTED CONCERN LIKE BSNL. THEY ARE LIER. EVEN THEY DARE TO INSULT A CUSTOMER ON ASKING ABOUT THEIR UNTRUTHFUL STATEMENT. THIS IS VERY UNDFORTUNATE THAT ALL THOSE SO CALLED HIGHLY EDUCATED OFFICIALS HAVE SHOWN ME THRU THAIR ZTE Wireless Terminal METER THAT THIS EV DO IS GIVING AT LEAST 600 Kb/s, BUT THEY DON'T EVEN TRYED TO LISTEN ABOUT AVERAGE SPEED AND PEAK SPEED FROM ME. INSTEAD THEY TOLD ME I AM NOT TRYING TO UNDERSTND THEIR THEORY. EVENTUALLY THEY TOLD ME YOUR SATISFACTION IS NOT OUR CONCERN. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. JAI HO BSNL!

I AM PURCHASES EVDO IN ONE YEARS BUT SPEED IN STARTING TWO MONTH GOOD BUT THIS TIMS SPEED VERY LOW. DOWNLOADING SPEED IS 2KPS TO 10 KPS. I AM VERY ABSET AND PRICE IN INCEASE TWO MONTH PRICE IS 1441 RUPEES. PLEASE IMIGATELY ACTION.

BSNL / EVDO-data cars — do not have enough speed

i have bought a BSNL EVDO internet connection at periyanaichenpalayam branc telephone exchange, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu. firstly, the speed of the internet is given tat it is 256kbps-2mbs before i buy this product, but after i buy i cannot find any of the speed which was mentioned in the add. i get only 7kbps - 15 kbps download speed in my internet connection. i gave the complaint to the customer care office but they dont respond me properly, i want an immediate response and action to be taken on the respective staffs in the exchange.

now am going to use another connection, bsnl is very poor

Data card has a limited mobility within a city, but since Sunday I have not been able to connect from my house, but office, I am able to connect.
I have a BSNL 3G USB data card and it works like a charm. I even got a very professinal service from Peenya BSNL office. The card was issued and activated in less than 45 mins of walking in.

BSNL always need not be blamed. Maybe, we walk in sometimes with a blocked mindset - expecting corporate level service ... We need to remember BSNL is still a Govt undertaking ... yet has come a long way from trunk calls to 3G service.
BSNL, the erst while DoT probably was better some years ago when it was really a govt. department treating it self as essential services. slowly the increase in number of class I officers in the department who do not really have any interest in the technology and have not engineering interest and real background have spoiled the reputation. other staff at the middle rank now I find there are very few who have any technical interest. I am very sorry to make a devastating comment. people are only careerists and not engineers. no one is really interested in technology but bothered how much they get either by salary or otherwise.
Worst customer service… EVDO just give an speed of 5-10Kbps per second.. when enquired through customer care, they simply telling we never suggest for EVDO products and we are not responsible for the cause.
In Kalpetta Town the speed of EV-DO is less than 200 kbps only since last 2 months. Complained several times, but no use.Concerned may please be interfered.
my Evdo card is not working properly. speed is very slow sumtimes speed cuming very fast but almost speed cuming very slow. i have already approached to your custmer care but they did`nt resposced. plz help me...

Really worst advertisement by the govt favouring towards bsnl evdo 2.4mbps where we get only 1/15, u should get back yr card fm us and refund.thanks, kk.

I fully agree with the people. I am also a person taken data card from B S N L out let. It worked well only for 25 days. I am not getting internet. Like others I visited the Customer care center of B S N L but no body bothers to rectify . I was asked to come again and again. It is a very good experience to the department again and again without any use.Our nation will remain like this only and it will not improve even after 100 years
dont purchase evdo card... it doesnt gives speed... for downloading 700mb movie it took 48 hours... its really sucks man... better to go for private connections...

Sub: compliant about landline connection for the phone no 2371139 & 2371020.

We have the Bsnl landline connection. For the past one and half month the landline connection was not work well. We have informed complaints as many times but nobody is responded well. We have urgently wanted the connection for 2371139 & 2371020 number.We have put the Bsnl Broadband Net connection for the phone no 2371020. We have loss many contacts & net connection. So please kindly repair the both landline connection as early as possible.

BSNL service has improved greatly over the years, because of competition from private players.But like you said there are still lot's old folks who are not technically very sound.You can't expect miracles in this country.
