[Resolved]  Citibank — Fraud and Unethical Practices

Hello Consumer Forum,

Please let me know how should I go further to lodge a complaint against CITI bank. Please read the following question that has been asked by me 2 months ago at yahoo answers, and I have Cheque form till now in my wallet. However, when I called customer care department of the CITI bank, they told me that they doesn't have any cheque with no. given by me. And told me to go to HDFC bank. As I physically visited the branch where I submitted the cheque, they also told me to talk to customer care department. Its a harrasment, and want to know does Banks has rights to keep the money if someone submit money faultly.

I have never expected to experience that kind of foul play by a giant bank like CITI bank. Please give me a solution should I expect to get my money return or
should I forget the same.

Please if any body here knows the perfect way and procedures then plz advice asap...


My Complain Question :

I have deposited a cheque of HDFC bank on CITI bank but i dont have any account with citi bank.. It was supposed to deposited on Standard Chartered where i
have a saving account.. It was a silly mistake but i dont know will I be able to retrieve the money. Actually on that day .. i went to citi bank branch near noida, and wrote all the information on cheq deposit form, (i have a slip though), I had filled up the account no. of standered chartered and attached my cheq and deposited.

However I have written the account no. and my signature on the back side of the cheque.. now the big issue is my friend who issued this cheq told me that the amount has been transferred from his account.. but HOW and WHERE??? I ve visited the bank where i deposited on cheq box, but they are just asking me to contact customer care .. but without any account how would i connect with customer care .. i ve never thought this kind of response..but very disappointed ... please let me know how would I get my money back... urgent reply needed...plz

C when some one deposit the chk the amount will be deducted from the issuers account at the End of day ( under process EOD Clearing).that's y money has been debited from your frds account.
now that money is with clearing house. ( A govt body who rules interbank transactions) .
Since u dont have a account with citi bank they will deposit the money back to your frds account after checking with citi bank in some days so dont worry.Citibank people cant help u as u r not der customer.
then also i[censored] want them to give u the info call their customer care n tell them about your problem, they will tell u whats der role.

Dont panic your money wont go any where.
