[Resolved]  Credit Card — Fraud on Credit Card

Hi,

My name is Kulshresth Rawal and I am a recent victim of the Credit Card fraud. As per customer service of Citibank credit card division, I was issued a credit card in August 2007 with number [protected]. However I never received this card. I have also never received any statement for this Credit Card on my mailing address.



Since August 2007 there was no contact done by the Credit card division people with me. As I have never applied for the Credit Card, so I was not knowing that a card has been issued in my name. Then all of a sudden two months back I got a call from a collection agency stating that i have a total due balance of Rs. 35000 on my Credit Card.I tried calling the Collections number given to me and talked to one of your collection representatives.



He told me that there was a shopping done by an Add on card which was issued to me. As I have not applied and not received any card I told them to block the cards immediately. The card was blocked on my request. When I told them that i never received any card, they told me that they have created a dispute and the investigation is going on. I relied on them and waited for the investigation to get over. When I don't got any call regarding the dispute on my account, i again called after 14 days.



They told me that still investigation is going on and I need not require to panic about it. I again got consoled and waited patiently for a result. Then all of a sudden on June 30, 2008, Citibank automatically deducted Rs.14133 from salary account in Citibank for the Credit Card due balance.



I contacted once again to the same people and they told me that you have a due balance of Rs. 48967 and I am bound to pay this. I told them that a dispute is going on my account and to check its progress. They didn't gave any information about it and asked me to contact the Credit Card division once again.



I visited e Serve office in Mohan cooperative Estate to get this issue resolved. There I met Puneet Sharma who was handling my case. He told me that a card was issued in my name and I am required to pay that amount. I asked him him produce the POD for the credit card delivery and he was not able to answer the same. How can such an important thing be delivered to someone without any authentication ??



When I insisted about the details and the fraud done on the Card, he told me to settle my account by paying Rs. 6000. Is it justifiable to pay such a big amount for no fault of mine??



I also have the call recordings of the talks I had with the collection agents and Mr. Puneet Sharma.



I am now being mentally tortured by your collection people for the due balance. I was required to pay the fees for my MBA papers and I was not able to do so as you deducted amount from account without any authorization. I am going through a very rough time and could not find any way out. Who will compensate for all this agony through which I have gone through.



And to better it off, now Mr. Punet Sharma is not picking up my call. He is avoiding me as I am his slave. Is this the kind of service we expect from such a large financial institution??



I always trusted Citibank and have my salary account in Citibank for last 3 years. But the way i have been treated in the past few days has changed my mind.



At this moment I do not find any way but to move to consumer court to get justice. I have enough evidence to prove my innocence and your carelessness. But before I move I thought of informing you about the incident.



So please help in getting out of this problem ASAP and refund my money which was unauthorisedly deducted from my account. Also I require a detailed investigation of this fraud done on the card In my name.



I am not asking anything extra for the stress and frustration given by you. I am only demanding my right and my hard earned money .

Did you get any response from Citibank for this ?
I also have a similar case for them but am wondering how to go about it and get my money back.
I am a credit card holder for Citibank. On 21st of Nov 2012 I received two messages in the morning around 07:15 AM and 07:19 AM about the two transactions that happened on my card amounting $700 and $900 which I did not do. I called Citibank immediately to inform regarding the same but they refused to take any action by saying that there is nothing that they could do till the transactions are claimed by merchant except blocking the card. I told them repeatedly as it was a fraud transaction and I did not do it they should block it.

I also sent them the dispute declaration form as requested by them on 22nd Nov 2012 but no action was taken. On 24th Nov the transaction was claimed by the merchant but still they did not take any action. On 25th Nov when they received a complaint from the National Consumer Helpline they registered my complaint and gave me a temporary credit and informed that the investigation would take around 60-180 days to finish after which they would take the decision that the transactions are fraud or not. I am completely at their mercy regarding the same. I have also filed a complaint regarding the same with Economic Offences Wing at Mandir Marg police station but no action was taken and after a month received a letter from them that they have forwarded my complaint to the local police station.

I am completely stuck and not sure what to do regarding the same. Where should I approach to get my money back.
