[Resolved]  Ebay.in — Fake Warranty Promise

Address:Kamrup Metropolitan, Assam

I purchased one Seagate HDD from a Ebay seller 'Attune Offitech' (Ebay Item No.[protected] who listed his item in Ebay as having warranty of 3 years. I made the payment on[protected] to Ebay (PaisaPay ID [protected]). The seller shipped the HDD with Sl. No. 6VPJQVQ1 & Product No. 9YP154304. It was supposed to be with a warranty for 3 years from the invoice date as per seller listing on Ebay. But when I verified the warranty status with the Seagate warranty validation website, I was shocked to see that the HDD has Warranty only up to 17-May-2013 (i.e. less than six months!). In other words, the seller sent me an old/used product whose warranty is almost expiring. I immediately sent message to the seller through Ebay but the seller rejected my point. Then I filed a complaint in Ebay Trust and Safety for refund, which was registered as eGuarantee Claim # 161898. Ashwani.P. - the person in charge of my case asked the seller to provide the invoice of his purchase to prove that the particular HDD has an warranty of 3 years. The seller sent the scanned copies of the two invoices a) the purchase invoice where the sl. no. of HDD was written as 6VPJ1V1Q & Product No. 9YP154304 with 3 year warranty. b) The sale invoice in my name. The same was forwarded to me also. After careful scrutiny, I found that
1. The sl. no. printed in the purchase invoice is different from the HDD that was actually sent to me though the P/N is the same.
2. Seagate warranty validation website does not produce any result for this particular set of S/N & P/N, which means, the Sl. No. mentioned in the purchase invoice is FAKE.
3. The second scanned copy of invoice i.e. the sale invoice in my name was issued on 3rd Jan 2013; but the actual invoice that was sent to me was issued on[protected].
4. The purchase invoice had more details about the buyer than the seller (e.g. no contact no., no email id of the seller but full details of the buyer)!
All the above observations clearly indicates a foul play with fabricated documents on the part of the seller. But the Ebay eGuarantee Claim team person Ashwani. P. showing utter disregard to natural justice (may be in collusion with the seller), passed a biased resolution favouring the seller and even after my strong opposition closed the case in an one sided manner. This sort of actions in Ebay shall definitely encourage the unscrupulous elements to further detriment of the genuine consumers.
