[Resolved]  HDFC Bank Bank Credit Cards — Poor service, loss of payment (cheque)

I wrote this email to HDFC hoping for a solution. The complaint has been vividly described in it.

THIS IS REGARDING AN ISSUE RELEVANT TO A MISSING CHEQUE PAYMENT, AS QUOTED BY THE HDFC PHONE BANKING OFFICER MR. SANDEEP, WHO HAD ASKED ME TO PRODUCE PROOF OF PAYMENT FOR THE PREVIOUS MONTH (BILL DATE 9TH AUGUST 2008) STATEMENT. I HAD MADE A PAYMENT OF RS. 7908, WHICH WAS RETURNED ONCE FOR NO SIGNATURE, AND WHEN IT WAS PRESENTED AGAIN, IT WAS CLEARED AND DEBITED FROM MY SAVINGS ACCOUNT IN SBI. IN SPITE OF THIS, NOT ONLY IS THE PAYMENT APPEARING IN THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT(DATED 9TH SEPTEMBER 2008), BUT MR. SANDEEP CLAIMS THAT IT IS NOT APPEARING IN CARD ACCOUNT EITHER. I WAS ASKED TO GO TO THE CREDIT CARDS DIVISIONAL OFFICE IN NELSON MANICKAM ROAD, CHENNAI. I WAS ASKED TO MEET MS. INDHUMATHI (PH: 23744002, ON THE 2ND FLOOR)

I WAS ABLE TO RETRIEVE A PHOTOCOPY OF THE CHEQUE FROM SBI WITHIN 5 MINUTES, BUT YOUR HIGHLY IRRESPONSIBLE AND DISCOURTEOUS OFFICER MS. INDUMATHI MADE ME WAIT FOR ALMOST 1.5 HOURS ON 22ND SEPTEMEBR 2008 (THE ENTRY REGISTER CAN BE CHECKED, WHEREIN I HAVE COME IN AT 3 PM APPROX), AFTER WHICH ALSO SHE REFUSES TO MEET ME, SENDS WORD THROUGH A SECURITY GUARD TO LEAVE THE PREMISES AND CALL PHONE BANKING AGAIN?????????? I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW EXACTLY ARE YOU PEOPLE TRAINED TO THROW YOUR CUSTOMERS FROM ONE END TO ANOTHER NED WITHOUT ANY COURTESY? THAT TOO FOR A FAULT YOU HAVE COMMITTED.

THIS IS SHEER STUPIDITY AND IRRESPONSIBILITY FROM YOUR END. THAT TOO FROM A BANK OF REPUTE LIKE HDFC. A NATIONALIZED BANK LIKE SBI MADE ME WAIT FOR LESS THAN 5 MINUTES TO RETRIEVE A COPY OF MY CHEQUE WHIHC HAS BEEN ATTACHED HEREWITH, BUT YOU PEOPLE, WHO CLAIM TO BE THE PINNACLE IN CUSTOMER SATISFACTION HAVE SHOWN PATHETIC SERVICE LEVELS THANKS TO THIS ISSUE!

PLS FIND ATTACHED WITH THIS EMAIL, A SCANNED COPY OF MY BANK STATEMENT, AND THE CHEQUE WHICH CLEARLY HAS YOUR STAMPS AND ALSO DROP BOX CODES. THIS SHOULD BE IMEDIATELY TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT AND ALL LATE FEES AND INTEREST SHOULD BE WAIVED OFF WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT. I HOPE THIS ISSUE WILL BE SORTED OUT RIGHT NOW, AS I AM NOT INTERESTED ( AND MIGHT NOT RESIST) GOING TO A CONSUMER COURT TO TAKE THE BANK AND THE ABOVE MENTIONED EMPLOYEES TO TASK. I HAVE ENJOYED GOOD SERVICE AND RELATIONSHIP WITH HDFC TILL DATE, AND I DON;T WANT TO SPOIL IT THANKS TO THE IRRESPONSIBILITY OF ONE DISCOURTEOUS EMPLOYEE.

Dear Sir: I have not applied Credit Card from HDFC Bank. But surprisingly I have received thro Couriers "credit card" from HDFC Bank, yesterday i.e on 24th August 2009. Without my knowledge and consent the Bank has sent the Credit Card, I have refused to receive the same, and returned, as I am not interested...Please don't irritate the people..
