HDFC Bank Credit Cards — HARASSMENT CALLS
It is unfortunate that behind the garb of a customer friendly and suave brand, HDFC resorts to unfair, unethical and illegal practice.I had written to them long time back there were some financial issues at this end and that I would be clearing my cumulative current dues by the end of July 2011.
Despite this request and my current inability the Collection Dept kept calling and sending provocative letters and mails.
Recently I received a letter dated 19/1 wherein it was indicated that a particular cheque bounced on 12/1 and therefore I need to pay the amount along with a service charge.
Strangely the same had been addressed in that month itself, as when it was alerted from by drawee bank that the cheque had bounced I had addressed the same immediately. Infact between 15th and 24th through net transfer payment of about Rs. 6000/- was made (far above the bounced amount)
It is clear that they have sent this letter basically to harass the customer as he had requested some grace time to clear the current dues etc.
The Government of India instituted the Banking Ombudsman Scheme few years back to check harassment of customers mostly by private banks like HDFC. Unfortunately the functioning of the BO's office too is questionable.
The BO's office was alerted about these disturbing calls etc. Strangely I received a mail from them on 2nd July stating that the complaint was "Maintainable" Complaint NO. is [protected] but then on July 5th the same office intimates me that is not not maintainable citing some clause.
Question is how could the BO's office come to such a decision by arbitrarily listening to just one side?
While your suggestion is doable it is (as usual) striking that your response yet again has the single track agenda on mind: settlement of dues. You have not even bothered to render an explanation as why a bounced cheque related issue of January settled in the same month has been raked up from nowhere at this time. Your only concern once again is dues, not the consistent harassment incurred on the customer. Banks like yours can only to business in this way in a country like India.

Credit Card — Harassment Calls and Letters
I have written the letter to standard chartered Mail Box - cards.[protected]@in.standardchartered.comcards.[protected]@in.standardchartered.com
HI Box,
As per my previous mails, Letters and Conversation - I would like to bring this to your attention once again that i want to make payments on the above mentioned card. I did mention this over the phone call to your executive and collection executive in January 2008. However due to Medical Emergency and Unforsceen circumstances i am not able to make payments for more thanm 1000INR a month.
Executive i had a word with asked me to make payment for 1400INR a month and i have explained it clearly in black & white, my current circumstances doesn't allow me to make it to the amount.
I still want to make payment s of 1000INr a month, please cooperate in the same context also i would request you to make sure that i shouldn't get HOAX telephone calls from ---- room number Patiala House Court. These people try to harasse by making police sirens sound at the back.
I am sorry but i will not go to any of these rooms to meet anyone in personal as i am scared of harassment to me.
I would also like to go ahead now and inform my local police station over the same to make sure that if anything happens to me Police is actually aware of all this.
Looking forward for an early action.
Please help me if anyone could.
