Sir,
The following letter was written to Hindustan Uni Lever Company:
SIR,
I PURCHASED A PACK OF PEPSODENT COMPLETE GERMI CHECK TOOTHPASTE FROM ONE OF YOUR DEALERS IN SADAR BAZAR, DELHI. THE CARTON (CONSISTING TWO 175 GM OF TUBES) OF TOOTHPASTE UNDER MAHA VALUE PACK (SUGGESTING SAVING OF RS 18/ ON AN MRP OF RS 98/), WHEREAS THE RATES WRITTEN ON THE CRIMP OF THE TWO TUBES IS RS 39/ EACH, WHICH TOTALS TO RS 78/, AND ACCORDING TO THIS THE FINAL RATE FOR THE CONSUMER SHOULD BE RS 60/ ONLY. 1. AS PER THE WEGHTS AND MEASUREMENT RULES THE CARTON AND THE ACTUAL PRODUCT SHOULD NOT BE DIFFERENT.
2. THIS IS WRONG INFORMATION, AND THE CONSUMER IS UNDULY FRISKED OFF HIS HARD EARNED MONEY, WHICH AMOUNTS TO EXCESS CHARGING THE CUSTOMER.
3, YOU CAN NOT CHARGE A CUSTOMER FOR MORE THAN THE MRP VALUE WRITTEN ON THE CRIMP OF THE ACTUAL PRODUCT.
4. A CUSTOMER IS CHEATED BY VIRTUE OF THE CHARGE BEING RS 80/ WHICH IS MORE THAN THE ACTUAL VALUE WRITTEN ON THE ACTUAL PRODUCT, ON TOP OF THAT, THE NET VALUE SHOULD BE STILL RS 18/ SHORT OF THE VALUE WRITTEN ON THE CRIMP.
NOW I AM ASKING YOU, WHY I SHOULD NOT REPORT THE MATTER OF CHEATING, GIVING WRONG INFORMATION, SELLING A PRODUCT FOR MORE THAN THE MRP VALUE OF THE PRODUCT, AND TAKING ADVANTAGE OF A GULLIBLE CUSTOMER, FOR NO FAULT OF HIS, AND LASTLY, REPORTING AN MRTP CASE AGAINST YOUR COMPANY, TO THE MONOPOLISTIC AND RESTRICTIVE TRADE PRACTICES ACT COMMISSION AND TO THE CONSUMER REDRESSAL FORUM.
PLEASE GET IN TOUCH FOR THE REPLY TO:
