[Resolved]  Hindustan Unliver /water Pureit — living bacteria, parasites

Subject: Complaint against malfunctioning of PureIt device and deficiency in consumer service by the Company.

Sir,

I am pained to write that the advertisement of Water Pure It in the electronic as well as print media making open challenge of Rs. 1 crore in the condition of systems failure, seems to be mere false, misleading and fraudulent act to cheat the innocent consumer rather to pour poison and bacteria in the drinking water on the name of pure and safe water in lieu of huge amount. These remarks may hurt you but the performance of the device and further more the negligent and befooling attitude of the consumer service despite lodging continuous complaints on the helpline have not only made hazard with the lives of our family members but wiped out the image of Excellency about the company’s product which we have in our mind.

I had purchased water purifier (Device No. RPB [protected] PureIt ) on dated 03.06.2009 through making call on the mobile No. displayed in advertisements i.e.[protected] for a sum of Rs. 2000/- in the name of my daughter Neelam at Q.No. 345 Sector-IV Timarpur, Delhi-110054. Since the red signal was appearing on the indicator I purchased full Kit of capacity of 2250 litrs for an amount of Rs. 510/- vide Order No. 1A09/DL1/[protected] which was installed on 14.11.2009by Mr. Sanjeev Kumar (Rep of Company). It is shocking that I noticed on 19.11.2009 that a number of bacteria, parasites, living warms alike tadpole/little fish are diving in the transparent container of the device which is suppose to dispense neat and clean water after complete purification. I lodged a complaint on helpline number[protected], the representative who visited after two/three days advised to wash and pour down the whole water and use it assuring that this will not happen again and in case happens do not pour down Company will take the sample beside replacing the whole device with a good one. But again on the next day of filing the water we noticed so many little bacteria, parasites, living warms alike tadpole/fishes, I again lodged a complaint to the company on local and centralized both helpline numbers but of no use. After lodging numerous telephone calls on day to day basis one representative visited late in the evening on 02.12.2009 and accepted that so many bacteria are visible in the container, he contacted the company from where he was advised to pour down the water and wash the device. Since we insisted to root out the main cause of germination of bacteria in the drinking water despite purification because washing the device again and again is not any solution to ensure hygienic and pure water, he allowed us to speak to the officer who was on the other side of telephone line from Company. The officer assured us to send a team of responsible officer to take the sample of water of sending in laboratory and replacing the complete device in the morning but in vain. It is pertinent to mention here that I have to make one person available for whole day in my house especially to attend the representative expected to visit which costs me more than the cost of device besides purchasing mineral water from the market.

You are requested to look into the matter personally and depute a responsible officer to get the sample of water as well as device collected under proper receipt and examine the reason behind so that the root cause can be abolished which will save not only the life of consumers relying for consuming drinking water from PureIt of Hindustan Uniliver but it will also save the trust in the brand and company. Needless to say that oversight of the request will force to seek the remedy through law or public mobilization, media, etc., because my intention is not to malign the repute of your company.
