[Resolved]  Honda Unicorn — Defect in Bike and Customer Service

Hi,
My name Arun Kumar and I bought a HONDA Unicorn from Didar Motors Chennai (#340 (old # 654), Anna Salai, Chennai – 600006) on 18th Feb 2008. The bike was good, until I found out this defect. This Unicorn Bike in allergic to water, the moment it gets wet the engine cools down and bike turns off. When I visited some websites to figure out what has gone wrong, I got replies from forum members saying it’s a common defect in UNICORN and I need to get this fixed. Being an Engineer I accept a defect can occur in a product, and I don’t blame HONDA for this. But what followed was even more surprising. First I went to Didar motors saying I have this problem, the guy had a look at the bike, looked at spark plug and then gave it back to me saying “Now it’s fine…” Four days after this had happened, we had rain in Chennai, and the same old problem reappeared. This time after completely getting myself drenched in rainwater I somehow managed to push my bike to a nearest service center JSP Honda Vepery. An authorized service center in charge gave me this reply “Sir. I understand your problem, but I suggest you to take it to Didar, we will have problems servicing it here”. Next day I went to Didar again, this time the person in charge of that service station said to a mechanic “Same problem which we had in the Black one, look into this…” I was finally happy; some one has recognized my bike’s problem. He got the bike back in 10 mins. I got even more excited thinking they have super mechanics who can fix such problems in matter of minutes. But I had doubts in my mind so finally decided to give it for First Service on 27th March (again in Didar). This time, I asked him to retest this problem. Next day I got the bike saying “It’s all fine….” Today 31st march again we had rain in Chennai, and again the problem reappeared. Again I took my bike to Didar at 6.15PM saying I have this problem, the attitude with which the person in charge replied to me has actually got me upset. The guy replied “Get the Bike tomorrow when it is raining, we will test drive the Bike in rain and then see what can be done….” in a manner, as if I am asking him for some HELP. I literally pleaded to him, to have my mike there and have a closer look at it. HONDA Company did not gift me this bike, I bought this Bike with my hard earned money for Rs 62, 160.00 + Rs 868.00 (accessories) and I expect only things which a person normally expects out of his Bike and nothing more. For all along I was quite, but now I feel things are going above a tolerable level. Consumer’s right should be protected, and it is not only the responsibility of a Company but also (Dealers, Sub dealers) every single person associated with it. I don’t know whom I should report this to, so I send this mail to every single mail ID of persons whom I think can really help me. this is subhasish padhi from hyderabad. i want to but new honda unicorn bike...but i heard that its delaying atleast 3 month after booking. can i get any solution to get the bike in less time.can anybody help me ehy such delay is occuring ? this bike is so demand or the production is so less ...plz reply...
I am also facing the same problem with my bike Unicorn as reported by Arun Kumar. I have purchased the Unicorn bike from Didar motors in Annasalai, Chennai. My bike stops when I drive through the rain water stagnation. I was instructed by the mechanic as don't drive the bike where the water is stagnant. I don't know who is going to solve this problem and who is going to take action on this problem.

I have purchased Honda Unicorn in Dec 2008 from Pashankar Auto, Pune.
As I am automobile Engineer & previously working as service engineer in Maruti Suzuki, I take a great care of my bike. Still I am not satisfy with service from hondas authorised service centers because the mileage which I got is really surprising which is below 45 km/Lit. and in Highway long running is below 50km/ lit.As per your Information leaflet of Honda unicorn, it needs to be 65 km/lit.

I regularly make servicing according to service manual from your authorized servicing center & still I am unable to get required results from the bike. Even at every servicing time i told to the service engineer that my bike is not giving me the required results still they didn't solve the problem yet. so i am expecting some positive reply from your side .

bought my Honda Unicorn in March2009. It'shad 4 free services. The bike's performance has been poor in milage .For a litre of petrol I would get b/w 35/38 km/ltr. But lately it has dropped to 40 km/ltr. I have verified the quantity of fuel to be 1 ltr at the bunk.

i have hona unicorn bike (MH-43 W3066) but my problem is about the average of the bike in not perfect for me the average is near by 32-35 k/pl this shocking for me when the first time i got the average
so pls. help me & increase my average upto 50-55

i am sorry to inform you that the Honda-Unicorn Motorcycle, has been constantly giving me troubles from the third Servicing. All complaints made to the authorised service centres and workshops have failed to rectify the problem in my vehicle.the problem with the my bike is the chain nokes very badely, foot break is getting sound and some times it stop's working, 3 days back i could have met with an accident, and when their is a rain the bikes gives me a big problem as the moment when i apply break it skids.at the last its up to you

Honda Unicorn — Nondelivery

I had booked Honda unicorn through CSD ( Canteen Service department) on 24th of November2009. At the time of booking I was told the delivery will be within 30 days. Now it is more than 2 months passed. When ever I call upon them the answer is we will inform you, whenever we get the delivery from factory. It is for information that I made the full payment at the time of booking( that is the procedure). There is no responsible answer from them. There are no other dealers if one wants to book Honda Unicorn through else where. I am forced to go through this dealer. When ever I talk to the salesman through whom I booked, to transfer my call to the proprietor, the answer is "she is busy talking with another customer". I fail to understand why this behavior. Am I not a customer?

I have a problem in my unicorn bike the problem is Handel play when ever I use disk brake Handel takes play. & when I was bying this byke I lold the sales manager then he rply me that he is company feature. But I have seen many more bike .but other bike have no like this problem. So plz solved my problem I have already seen my bike in Meerut three service center . But I am not satisfied to your company dealer .
& they have also plucked my Handel stand also.
So plz take action immediately

Dear sir since last 5 years i am your custurmes ... i was taken honda activa, and Unicorn ... Now again i want to take Unicorn new ... i was visited 6-7 times in you autofin show mahdipatnam. my bank already given approval to your people. previsously you people said to me ya i have booked 1 bike for u just you take approval from bank any time we will relise you bike ... Now they are saying to me . we dont have bikes in market you have to wait 20 days then also we cant sure will you got ur bike or not . this is not that way to behiave with our custormesr .. they people deleverd bike to other. but they not arrangeing bike for be . so can you please telll me this is the way of behave of yours custormer..

Honda Unicorn — delivery delay

I purchased Honda unicorn in 2008 from the distributor of Kollam "Vahini Motors".I am satisfied with the perfomace of the bike and it's milage but the distibuter didn't provide good service and didn't check all the parts of it, so I couldn't maintain it's milage and it's good condition.
Hi I am had purchased a honda unicorn in the month of Otc 2009 from FORTUNE MOTERS PVT LTD Secunderabad. From the date of purchase till today I visited to service center 7 to 8 times for the problems like 1. Handel noising front and back tyre skidding. One day I missed a very big accounted on that vehicle also. The people how are their in the service center they are not respond properly to do the favor. All ways they are telling that problem is solved your vehicle is ready. And after 2 to 3 days the same problem occurred. I don’t want to waste my time and my work. I am going to consumer form. Ok I am giving a time of 1 week from now please kindly do need as soon as possible.
