[Resolved]  HSBC Credit Card — Finance & Late Payment Charges &

Dear Sir,

I am having 2 Gold Credit Cards of HSBC Bank, out of this 1 Card is paid by ECS payment from my ICICI Bank A/c, other is paid immediately on receipt of Statement from HSBC. Their Statement
for July-07 was received late at my home address & I had received a call from Call Centre to make payment of Rs.31,500.00
on sunday dtd 5.8.07. I had sent the Cheque for Rs.31,500.00 with my staff & deposited in their collection counter at Kandivali on M.G. Road. When after receiving the Statement by post I was shocked to know that Debit on my Account was only 23,280.00 & They had given me a wrong figure to me. I thought since I use this card regularly I will get credit in next statement, surprisingly they have charged klate payment fees of Rs.350.00 plus finance charges of Rs.1,381.00. When I had sent them a mail, they had replied saying that< finance charges can't be waived off but late payment fees are waived off.

In my 2 mails I have asjed them that why your call cntre representative have given me a wrong figure by increasing Rs. 8,220.00 but they have not reffered any thing about the same complain of mine & have not revesed the finance charges as yet.
Even they have not clarified that at what rate they have charged me finance charges, normally they chare @ 2.95% p.m. which amounts to Rs.687.00 whereas they had charged me Rs.1,381.00 plus 12.36% service tax.

I'm attaching copies my 2 mails sent to them alongwith their 2 mails I have received for your refrenc & request you to look into .

My 1st mail

Dear Sir,

Kind Atten: Mr Jai Sai.

Ref: Case No 3490260.

I'm in receipt of your mail informing your inability to reverse
the finance charges, in any case, you have not considered non receipt of your monthly statement for which you have penalised me by charging 2.95% on entire balance which was overdue by 5 days not on pro rata basis & that to due to non receipt of your statement. If you see the earlier records, dues pertaining to both cards have not been delayed any time. Kindly note that payment delay was due to non-receipt of statement which has not been received till date & neither due to not having credit balance nor due to any other reason. In this case, you should have sent your statement by courier. Also you have not mentioned anything regarding giving false figure of outstanding as approx. Rs.31,500.00 by your responsible representative Miss Kajal or Kinjal to me on my cell on Sunday dtd 5.8.07 & not the exact amount due as per statement which was 23,280.00 only which I came to know when the next month statement came in my hand. As per figure given to me on my cell I had made arrangement to
deposit the cheque for Rs.31,500.00 in your drop box at Kandivali, West on the same day i.e. on 5.8.07. You never count interset on excess amount paid by me instead of paying Rs.23,280.00, I have paid Rs.31,500.00 as told to me by your representative over my cell.

In case, if you don't care for good customers & you don't need me to use my both Credit Cards & my both sons cards, please inform me where should I send back all credit cards to avoid further inconvenience to you.

Thanking you,

Yours faithfully,

Hasmukh K Vithalani

Dear Mr Vithalani

We refer to your mail received via [protected]@hsbc on 22 September.

We observe from our records that since we have not received the payment on due date, you have been levied with a Finance charge and late fee.

We wish to inform that based on your relationship with us and as a service gesture we have arranged to reverse the late fee of INR 350/- account along with service tax that is levied to your card account. The same will reflect as a credit in your subsequent statement.

We regret our inability to reverse any further charge and request you to make the payment by due date to avoid further incremental charge levy in your cad account

We also wish to inform that interest - free credit is available if the entire billed amount is settled by the payment due date. If part payment/no payment is received by the due date, the outstanding amount from the date of the statement attracts finance charges at the rate of 2.95% per month.

Additionally, all new transactions also attract a finance charge from the date of posting into the account once the account uses the extended credit facility. The finance charge is debited on the last day of the billing cycle and is applied using the "average of daily balance" method.

We request you to make a payment towards the whole of the statement closing balance on or before the payment due date, to avoid the levy of any further finance charges to your card account.

Thank you for using [protected]@hsbc.

Warm regards

Dear Mr. Mohamed Farrik,

I'm in receipt of your which has never replied me anything
about telling false amount of Rs.31,500.00 instead of Rs.23,280.00 & even not informed me regarding surrendering of my & my family's cards. Now as you are unable to act on my request, kindly inform me about giving false figure by your representative & interest on excess amount of Rs.8,220.00 paid by me & interest on the same for 26 days from 5.8.07 to 31.8.07.

Kindly inform whether should I destroy all your cards after
clearing dues payable if any on usage of cards or surrender cards & drop in your drop box at Kandivali or should should I continue using cards on reversal of finance charges by you.

Regds,

Hasmukh Vithalani.

Dear Mr Vithalani

We refer to your message of 02 October 2007.

We regret for the delay in response due to technical snag.

We have noted your concern and observe from our records that as per the statement date of 09 July 2007, the outstanding balance in your card account was INR 23,280/- and the due date was on 31 July 2007.

However, we observe from our records that we are in receipt of the payment after the due date of 31 July 2007 ie on 08 August 2007.

We wish to advise that interest - free credit is available if the entire billed amount is settled by the payment due date.

Further we regret to inform that we are unable to reverse any further charges and also request you to henceforth make the payment towards your entire outstanding on or before the payment due date to avoid any incremental charges being levied to your card account.

We maintain strict security standards and procedures to prevent unauthorized access to information about you. HSBC will never contact you by email to validate personal information such as your user ID or password.

If we may be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to send us a message or call our 24 hours phone banking services.
