On[protected] two Managers of ICICI Securities visited me. They were Preeti Saha and Rajiv Ranjan. Rajiv was quiet and Preeti did the talking. They informed me that my ICICI demat account needed proper advise and they would me guiding me. For that I would need to invest Rs.50,000/- yearly in their scheme ICICI Pru Wealth Builder. She presented me a very colourful picture about the scheme. In fact, she advised me to sell most of my shares so that Rs.50,000/- cash could be generated for this Insurance. Believing on what she said I gave her a cheque for the said amount. The market was low on the day I sold my shares and just after two days, it rose to above 20 K level, i.e. I lost some money by selling at a lower price. Later on I found out that this scheme does not suit me at all as I am nearly 58 years old and may not enjoy the benefits supposed to yield from this insurance.
After a week I rang Rajiv and told him that I was not interested in doing this Insurance and it should be treated as cancelled. Since then, I have been ringing them every alternate day, but there has been no positive response from their side. I have been told I can cancel only after I have received the policy in hard copy. Till date I have not received the hard copy, Today I received a soft copy in my e-mail address informing me that my policy no. was 17915038 and it was worth only Rs.47611/- after deducting Premium Allocation charge etc.
I cannot understand why ICICI Pru personnel are harrassing me. I only want my money back and need it urgently for some other purpose. Instead of paying me interest for this period, they want to deduct money and then repay me. Preeti has not only misled me, she today told me that she did not tell me about the cancellation procedure because I did not ask!! Moreover, she had categorically asked me to tell Mumbai office when they would ring to reconfirm this deal, that everything was in order and I did not need any extra information as it was only formality call.
Can I get justice?
