ICICI Lombard Health Insurance — Health Insurance Policy unduly/ Forcefully issued in my name and my wives name and imposing charges thereupon for cancellation

1. I was approached telephonically by customer care dept. of ICICI Bank Credit card offering me a increase in credit limit from existing 40000/- to 1,00,000/-. For which I was asked to buy a ICICI Lombard health insurance policy. I refused saying, I am not interested to incur any financial liability for health insurance. They said that it is a formality, they shall immediately cancel the insurance policy and no charges shall be attracted.( No increase in the credit limit as yet- Hence a false offer)

2. The customer care dept. confirmed that it has forwarded a request to cancel the ICICI Lombard health policy. I reiterated that I am not willing to bear any financial liability for the health policy, I was assured that policy shall be cancelled.

3. Then after few days I was called again by the ICICI Bank Customer care Dept. saying that there was some difficulty in reversing the policy issued in my name so they asked my spouse name saying that same policy shall be cancelled against my wives name. I gave them my wives name. Also I ensured that I am not willing to buy any policy or increase my liability, I was confirmed that my policy shall be cancelled. Also I was told that the premium against the policy may reflect in my credit card statements, that I should not pay for first 3 months and the amount shall automatically get reversed.

4. I was billed for policy issued in my name and separately for my wives policy in the month of May. I did not pay the amount pertaining to the premium.

5. I was billed the 2nd Installment for both policies in month of June as well. The amount of 1st Inst. Of May was carried forward in the month of June. I made payment of the outstanding amount after deducting the amount payable towards premium of health policy.

6. I the month of July also I was billed for the 3rd Installment along with the accumulated outstanding of May and June. Also in this month, I got a credit of 8,400/- against cancellation of some previous purchases made. My outstanding amount of Premium was adjusted against the credit in my account.

7. I approached the customer care dept. in the month of July stating the whole issue, they asked me to wait till they verify the whole thing with ICICI Lombard. In the process, they continued billing me with the 4th, 5th Installment for both the policy. I kept on corresponding with the customer care dept. And the Customer Care Dept. kept on asking for extension of time.

8. In the month of Sept. the bank has reversed the EMIs against the policies, but a fresh debit of 6200/- was created which, as per my records is illegitimate. I have stopped making payments against the ICICI bank credit card bill after clearing all the liabilities as per my records. But, the Bank is continuing to bill me adding late payment charges and interest thereon. I have been writing to the customer care Dept. regularly but now they have stopped responding to my mails. I have also written to the deputy manager ICICI bank also about the matter attaching the whole statement of account payable by me but in vein.

I treat this as shear harassment of a regular customer. And later the accumulated amount may invite troubles for me. The purpose of this communication is to lodge a complaint against the bank and the ICICI Lombard Insurance Co. as to carry out a detailed enquiry against the ICICI Bank Customer care Dept and the ICICI Lombard Ins. Co. as they have issued me 2 policies against my intent to have any health policy and billing me unduly for the same.

I expect an immediate action shall be initiated and I shall be provided a relief from the harassment from the bank.
