I have applied for passport renewal in August'2009 at washington DC. I have been calling them several hundred times, but there is no response. A couple of times I was able to got hold of them and said they are waiting for an approval from regional passport office. They do not take any responsibility of what they are doing. I would say they are the most IRRESPONSIBLE people I have ever seen in my life. They feel like we are dependent on them. Its more than 6 months and no information or feedback from them. Really I am so frustrated and is there any way we can really complain about them. no phone, no email...the one the fat lady sits in the counter thinks that she is the PM of India...i hate that woman, , , ...there is another woman...she is also like that...every one in DC embassy sucks...One more thing the rest room was so bad...as there is only one for men/women..and it is always overflowing and it flows into the resting area...it is so horrible...

Houston consulate does not give a dick abt helping indians. You'll be lucky to get their official phone lines answered. They've got Travisa - an outsourced service to process visas for other nationals. What could be more shameful? I'm posting a couple of phone numbers to help frustrated people circumvent the lack of response on their official phone lines:[protected] & 2149 during the hours of 2 and 4 pm or 4 and 5 pm.
The numbers are NK Ghai[protected] and D.K. Sharma[protected]. If nothing works, write to them and ask for contact of consul general Mr. Sanjiv Arora and let him have a piece of your mind. If that doesn't help write to the Foreign Ministry. Only we can help ourselves and demand better treatment for us. God bless!

i really don't know this is the right place to make complaint but we can send our comments and see what will happend, please send your valuable comments and proof ourselves that we are united again.

After we complaint the indian government should appoint more people to serve (or) remove these lazy people and appoint new one (or) close this office.

Indian uk embassy is worse.
I was sent back today because the damaged passport forms that I downloaded from their website was not the latest one. So is it my fault or is it the embassy's fault ? They cannot even maintain their own website. I had downloaded the forms just yesterday. Morevoer I have been calling them for last two weeks but no one bothers to answers the phone.

They are babus doing a favour on us by doing their work.
They all should be sent back home in some remote village to enjoy sunshine - that is the only thing these guys can do - laidback .

I think they should transfer everything to Travisa outsourcing. My recent experience with Travisa was great!

I am ready to put case in the court against the passport office, basicaly to find what is the rule that governs the passport delivery schedule . how about getting a lawyer (may be in India )? my location is Tokyo .

No wonder if they does same in Kenya when they can play in US! I am also an Indian citizen and i have same experiences about Indian High Commission in Kenya. I am so surprised that how such people can be the representative of a country like INDIA! the way they talks with their own people its terrible! recently i was there for my passport renewal, the place itself looks like some typical municipal Indian office People are moving with Tea in hands, Commissioner smoking cigarettes and playing cards and games on his computer (i doubt if he knew anything else on computer then to play games ) and other staff talking rudely with visitors it was a really terrible experience. as i reached to the counter (After having all the forms and required documents) the person opposite me started to ask me some silly questions and when i said you can find all the answers on those documents why dont you read? and this SHAHEB got angry and literally threw my passport ..:D ... and then they call security guys to take me out.. I was shocked by witnessing all that. then i went to see the commissioner him self and before i say anything he started that its my fault...lol ... some stupid arguments and i came back empty handed. ..wait its not over yet :P

Passport is not some thing that you can survive without and i needed it any how..then i got one AGENT paid some money and imagine i got it ..IMAO..

They are and who are working at Indiana embassy or consulates. they are . they are degrading Indian glory. . I called them 100+ times not even single answer the call.

I think they sleep with out doing work. that the reason most of the India have round belly

one answered the call but replied rude. he told to send me mail and never call to this number. that is very rude.

India gov should take some action. but they are also in the same way. no one answers and no one listens our queries.

My OCi application was rejected on 2 occasions alegedly because of lack of documentation.I guess they need a copy of indian passport and renunciation certificate which I cannot provde for the following reason,
I was born in Goa India from Indian parents who had indian passports, but I left india in 1955 with a portuguese passport (Goa was under Portuguese jurisdiction until 1961) and I never had indian passport in my lifetime
According to the Indian law I qualify for OCI because my parents are born in India and had indian passports, I did submit a copy of their indian passports and my indian birth certificate to prove my case but NYIC does not seem to understand this fact, and they do not respond to Emails and telephone calls.
It's about time that some governent official shoud do something URGENTLY to correct this problem

I need my passports back .. I had to mail them for surrendering as they are no more acceptong at the counter and now i am still here wondering if they ever mailed it back or not. And as usual there are choices to select when u call.. tried al of them none of them pick it up... God do they ever understand the frustration people undergo by the way they work.. get them trainined someone before placing them in those positions

Actually its not about lack of 'training' of the indian staff, as some writers seem to think, that is the problem. It is an attitude of corruption and lack of ethics that is the problem. The embassy postings abroad are done based on political '-kissing' back home. While the Indian embassies and consulates have never been known for their efficiency the last 25 years, the situation has deteriorated in the several years to a point of complete breakdown in the functioning of these embassies and consulates, thanks to the current UPA-Congress government's corrupt governance. India is offically now a banana republic, where the politicans and their coteris throughout the world will behave as they please, and with a smug knowledge that no Indian can anything to them. Staff in the embassies behave that way, becasue their master back home behave the same way. So try complaining to anyone in India, and see where that gets you.

The staff at the Indian embassies and consulates know that all they have to do to keep their job is to keep certain politicians back home happy and their job at the foreign mission is secure; so they live to basically serve themselves and not the nation's citizens for which they were allegedly hired.

But now, every one of these Indian missions abroad, wherever their location, is corrupt, inefficient (actually deliberately inefficient) and completely indifferent,

Most Indians and persons of Indian origin have only themselves to blame, because they and their idiotic families back home voted this corrupt government to power, and thereby turning India into a banana republic. Congratulations! You were indifferent during the elections and now you pay the price! How can you whine about something you yourself are responsible for. Funny!

I have sent for my passport renewal to the New York Embassy 1&1/2 months back and still haven't got my passport. I tried calling every number on the list for 2 weeks, emailed every official and no response at all. No one answers the phone. I don't know what to do. I cannot take my GRE exams until i get my passport, and I am sooo frustrated.

I agree, the indian mentality will never change. I am in Australia. I work in a hospitality industry. I know how Australians work.When I compare that with our indian consulate I feel like I am in India again. They dont know the meaning of Customer care. I dont understand why they get paid for. Well Iwill complaint to the Indian High Commissioner and will wait for her answer and will go to media, because thats the only best way to give a complaint.We I dont trust Indians and Indian Govt.People who talk good about Indian people and Govt. please stop doing that.

Indian Consulate in US really suck!!! New Your, Chicago ... you name it. They have all the phone lines automated where no one is avalble to speak. Web site does not answere all the questions. Why does the Prime Min. Of India take a note of it. He come to US asking for NRI to flow money in India but can not take a notice of the frustration we go thru his consulate. This is UTTER SHAME!!!

Consulate of India in Hong Kong. I was shocked when there was actually somebody answering the phone at the OCI card section, but as I expected. i was told that the person who can answer is not there. You should call at 3pm. Call at 3pm and nobody answers the phone. I wonder how a big country like India runs if they dare to allow such stupid officers to be stationed at their counsulate overseas to handle matters of NRI. Those employees from India have no sense of service. They believe that they themselves are bosses and don't realise they are being paid to service.They must employ local people to run the services because they are much more reliable, repsonsible, not corrupt and helpful. Those people they send from India is indeed a disgrace to the country. It is time to change all this and have a efficient and workable consulate.

Hong Kong Consulate of India. On most peoples mind, Indian or foreigners will know that nothing can be done smoothly and quickly at an Indian consulate or embassy. They are bound to be problems or website won't work. Nobody will be there to answer the phone to clarify things. Even if you get them, the are not helpful. I was shocked when I called the consulate in Hong Kong and somebody actually answered the phone in the IPO card section but just as I expected, I was told that the person can answer is not there. Call again at 3pm. 3pm I called and nobody answers. Later I called again, I was told she was in a meeting. Eventually I still could not get answers from them. This is 2010 and this kind of service is still going on. I really wonder how a big country like Indian runs if they dare to allow such stupid employees to be stationed at their consulates. They should employ local people as they are more reliable, repsonsible, helpful and not corrupt. The people at the consulates who are giving bad service to applicants should pack up, go back to India and plough their grandfathers fields. There is no place for them in a civilised country.

Similar trend continues in Washington DC - No one replies to email or picks up the phone. I have been waiting for my passport renewal and trying to reach over phone for the past 15 days - never succeeded in getting a reply.

i wonder how shamelessly the staff could get paid for what they are doing...

My minor Child passport renewal was requested with all the required documents sent through Fedex overnight as mentioned in Embassy website. They received documents, They encashed the fee Money orders and they simply did not act on it. I have made more than 100 calls at all the possible work hours and only one time I could put voicemail which was never responded. Other times their voice mail box is full. These Embassy people have real WORST approach and forget about any service, they want to PUNISH indians overseas. Some kind of REVENGE because these Govt worker are not able to stand in competition and jealous of overseas people earning more than them or others in India.

It is SHAME on the Embassy and INDIAN GOVT that they employ these JOKERS. These are finally paid from Govt money which is coming from general public. Those ministers back home shout that lot of brains go out of country - Such govt work approach is reason why I feel ASHAMED of my country when it is to talk about promptness of service. Is there a way to file some GLOBAL complaint because filing complaint with any Indian office will be same without action - These bas***ds should be kicked in Public for the lowering the reputation of India.

I've been having a terrible experince with Indian Consulate Chicago. I applied for my son's PIO Card nearly 3 months ago and I haven't received it yet (The processing time is 21 working days as per their website). When I tried to contact them over phone a month ago, their voicemail box was full and I was not able to leave a voice message. I emailed them but haven't got a response till date. I tried contacting them by phone again but the phone line itself is disconnected (Separate phone number for PIO Cards that's mentioned in the automated system). I emailed them again but nobody responds.. I'm planning to go to India for a vacation but don't have my son's PIO Card.. These services should be OUTSOURCED and all these guys fired (I know its impossible for that to happen for Govt Jobs!!)..
