[Resolved] Indian Postal Department — Non-receipt of e-Money Order
I have booked a e-Money Order at Porur Sub-Post Office for Rs. 1000 on 4th February, 2009 addressed to Srirangam, Trichy Dt. [vide PNR No.[protected]]. At the time of booking itself, the Porur Sub-Post Office official have feeded the destination wrongly. i.e., instead of Srirangam, she had typed Porur again. That is the e-M.O. is from Porur to Porur. When I immediately pointed out the mistake, she said they would take care when sending the e-M.O.
To my surprise, the e-M.O. never reached the destination. Since, the money was to be reached urgently, I had to visit Srirangam and paid the amount by cash. I made an enquiry at the Srirangam Post Office, they immediately helped me by tracking the PNR Number in the server, which clearly showed that the amount was roaming within Porur and showing that the amount was paid on 7th February, 2009, whereas the amount had neither gone to the destination nor it has been returned to the sender.
To add to my grief, I received the e-M.O. acknowledgement slip without the signature of the addressee. Immediately I enquired the Porur Sub Post Office, they just kept mum and could not answer properly. I gave a written complaint, requesting the authorities to return the money immeditely. They blamed the system and narrated technical problems. Till today, the 2nd March 2009, almost one month is over, the amount is yet to be received by me.
I am visiting the Porur Sub Post Office daily except on Sundays and holidays, but the Sub-Post Master is giving some unconvincing reply.
I hope this complaint would reach the attention of the authorities so that I can get back the money at the earliest. I am thinking of going to consumer court, if it does not come within a week.
