[Resolved]  Medi Assist — Medi Assist worst ever service I had seen

Dear reader,

If you want peace of mind with cashless claim, please don’t go with Medi Assist TPA.

We ( I, my wife and new born baby) had to wait in the hospital lobby for 8 hours; thanks
to Medi Assist’s lethargic inhuman service! The fax for enhancement of the cashless claim was sent at around 4:00 PM. Every hour, I was calling the customer service of Medi Assist and the hospital administration was also contacting them in between. Every time, the claim was under process and will be completed by 6:00 PM, 7:00 PM, 8:00 PM, 9:00 PM... Thanks to merciless customer care executive, finally, we called it a day and paid the cash by ourselves and got discharged from the hospital at 10:00 PM.

The claim was finally settled after 2 days!!! Now, I have to visit the hospital to collect back the money I had paid upfront.

Lessons learnt:
(1) Please don’t ever rely on Medi Assist. It is severely understaffed and customer care executive have no common sense. ( same case with all of them. I had talked with Sagar, Reddy and Kumar during this time and all have same no sense attitude.)
(2) Don’t believe 24 hour call centre services unless you test before hand. Try your self for medi-assist call centre:[protected] and if you get someone to talk to you in less than 5 minutes, I would say, you are extremely lucky!!
(3) Have enough cash with you to pay upfront and possibly claim later.

Please spread this word to your friends and colleagues so that they would avoid such treatment of making their loved ones to wait in the hospital lobby for several hours swallowing infections.

hi have a reliance health insurance which has a mediassist TPA. I sent my documents for post hospitalization in September 2010 and when i called customer care in October, they says it will take time because we are shifting the building.in november month they says it is not paid until we pay the cashless to hospital and finally in late november they says we dispatch the check to delhi branch.I called the delhi branch and they gave me mumbai branch number because my policy is from mumbai branch.mumbai branch gave me courier number in which they dispatch check to delhi branch. Now i called delhi branch again and they dont know where is the check.I write lot of mails to mediassist and reliance but i didn't get any reply. Can someone tell me, is there any law for these types of things? As in policy they mention reimbursement of POST hospitalization will be in 15 days. All these calls are chargable to me as delhi and mumbai has landline numbers. Infact they says it is your reimbursement so you have to call us for enquire, we will not call you.I never see such a bad management and company.
I should say to everyone not to go for mediassist or reliance policy ever.

I strongly agree with the above complaints becasue i also faced with the same situation. I went to RAMZAN hospital at Sringar and manager of that hospital clearly told that they are not doing any cashless hospitalization process and i tried to call to mediassist on so many numbers but no one has picked up my call.

(the above link has list of concerned people whom you should contact to end the malpractices of mediassist with their phone number, address & mail ids)

My request to all the VICTIMS OF MEDIASSIST is to flood the IRDA & concerned peoples mail boxes with delaited & incident specific complaints & force them to take action. Request to make use of this facility. mediassist people are so shameless, they would not hesitate to ensure denial of the benefits you paid for & you are entitled to.

This should work unless & until the IRDA people are also hand in glove with mediassist & receiving kickback money from them.

Exactly Mr. Ravi..
Medi Assist is the worst ever TPA that I have ever seen. Such a poor response and itseems like the company is full of illiterate and people who dont have any common sense, discipline etc..

Chetan
one of the worst and most ****ing company. nothing else to say.
Yes it is frustrating... i am waiting for my hospitalization claim to be reimbursed.
I have an approved limit for Rs. 75000 for hospitalization c-Section delivery and my bills show only half of this amount for claiming... and the mediassist associates are asking for more documents when all the bills provided by the hospital are submitted. All the bills contain the details with the hospital stamp and authorities signature but they wouldn't accept it :( Don't understand why this is actually...
Mediassist team are not ready to speak to the hospital authorities because this is not cashless :(
When a claim is with them for more than 5 months, if they are really working towards helping customers, they shouldn't mind giving a ring to the hospital and enquiring about their procedures for bills. I am struggling to get my amount reimbursed for the past 5 months and its still on-going :(
we too have the same feeling about mediassist and also is a worst tpa . IRDA should take out TPA license from Medi assist.

Absolutely Right Ive a similar experience with them.Medi Assist is supposed to be the worst company Ive even dealt with. Completely Unethical & unresponsive. They make your suffereings even worst when you needed them the most. This is in regard to my Medi assist no. [protected]. They took 48 hours of time wasting on undue queries & ultimately rejecting it on baseless reasons. Due to this I was not even able to avail my other insurence.

Medi Assist Insurance - Cheats Common Man

My name is Madhu Keshava; working in Corporate Company since 2004. Earlier, our company was tied up with TTK Health Insurance and it was really good service we were getting and then the company had to tie up with Media Assist Health Insurance.

My mother is a Neurology Patient. Every now and then, she suffers from continuous hiccups and vomiting. In the month of July, we had to admit her to nearby Sumathi Nursing Hospital where doctors tried their best to diagnose the reason for such issues and failed to find so; they confirmed she needs Psychological Treatment and the same was given. However, Medi Assist denied approving the expenditure. I had to take a loan from my family member and friends to cover up the expenditure.

When checked with the Media Assist Customer Service and Hospital, they claim Medi Assist does not approve expenditure for Psychological diagnosis and treatment.

After a week or so, we found some behavioral changes with my mother’s health and she fell down at home. We immediately rushed to Columbia Asia Referral Hospital where we were told there were the following issues:

01. Sub-acute Left Lateral Medullary Stroke
02. Severe Depression with acute Short Term Memory Loss
03. Left Fifth Metatarsal Base Fracture
04. Numbness in both the ties

MRI Brain scan showed left lateral medullary infarct, was started on anti-platelets, statins with close monitoring of blood pressures. 2D ECHO seems to be normal with an injection; fraction of 60% while carotid Doppler showed no significant stenosis. Orthopedic consult was taken for left leg swelling, X-Ray done showed fracture of left fifth metatarsal base; crepe bandage was applied after the swelling reduced, she was advised to avoid weight bearing.

Other relevant investigations were normal. Psychiatry consult was taken for her acute short term memory loss; she was diagnosed to have severe depression, counseled and prescribed antidepressants.

Pre-authorization was sent by the Hospital and Medi Assist denied the request; which made me to contact them again. I was told by the Customer Service that the approval will not be given on Psychological Diagnosis. Doctor says, “Stroke is more of Neurology Diagnosis and not related with Psychological Issue”. I had to scan the doctor’s copy and fax it to Medi Assist; and had to make some 20-25 calls to get the initial amount approved and confirmed they will not approve 80% of the expenditure instead only 55%.

Medi Assist has an article on “Standard Nomenclatures & Procedures for Critical Illnesses” which says:
“Any cerebro-vascular incident producing permanent neurological sequelae. This includes infarction of brain tissue, thrombosis in an intracranial vessel, haemorrhage and embolisation from an extra-cranial source. Diagnosis has to be confirmed by a specialist medical practitioner and evidenced by typical clinical symptoms as well as typical findings in CT Scan or MRI of the brain. Evidence of permanent neurological deficit lasting for at least 3 months has to be produced.”

If this is the case, why can’t they approve the complete 80% coverage the dependents are eligible for? I am in a position where I’ll have no option to pay the hospital bill if they ask me to do so at the time of discharge.

Please help me and save my mother…!!!
Same is the case with us. My father is admitted in Jessa Ram Hospital, under the MA panel, for pancreatitis. Today even after 4 days the pre authorization has not come. Hospital has completed all formalities from their end the same day of admission and now are asking for their money. What is the point paying extra for cash less service when they dont provide u with that. Their website says 8 hrs in case of emergency and they have taken well above 96 hours and it is still "UNDER PROCESS".

If someone can help us pls call us at [protected], Delhi.

MA is worst ever TPA and i will go legal against them in consumer court. They have to pay heavily for the harassment caused to my family.

Never go for MediAssist TPA, unless u have bucketloads of cash and dont mind i[censored] dont get any service/reimbursement.

A harassed consumer,
Ankit Jain

Yes I agree with you, Medi assist is worst company in the world
My wife just delivered a baby 4 days ago in subbaiah hospital Bangalore. but hospital says mediassist covers only employee and spouse (not the new born baby).
Hospital is asking me to pay for baby's treatment.
Baby is going through 'phototherapy'.
Should I pay for baby's treatment or will medi assist pay for my baby's treatment?
Please advice.

Medi Assist worst ever service I had seen - Comment #2360647 - Image #0
Dear All,

It is not enough if we keep cribbing in these forums. Let us take legally these TPA's firmly by teaching them a lesson. Let us form a group in Whatapp to create an awareness. Right away I have asked my group companies to review the employee policies with Mediassist.

Regards,
Srivatsan
Mediassist must provide its customer a clear distinction between the medical and non medical expenses. It must also define what is CASHLESS? Because everytime I opt for cashless I have to pay a certain amount to the hospital.Hence, it is the bounden duty of mediassist to have a openness regarding which expenses are to be approved in cashless procedure.
