Passport Office Delhi — Tatkaal Passport sent from RPO, but not received even after 10 days.

I had applied for a passport under Tatkal scheme (which assures me a passport within 1 to 7 days of application) on 7th July, 2009 and I have not received my Passport yet, as on 18July, 2009.

The status of my Passport on the website as well as the SMS status enquiry says "Passport has been despatched by post on[protected] vide postal Registration Number 142820".

I called up the Post Office to enquire about the same, they say is the Passport is sent through SpeedPost it should have a 9 Digit Speed Post Tracking number and incase it is sent through Registered Post it should have a 4 Digit tracking number. I have not moved out of my house all these days and have been waiting for this passport only.

Post office says that they can not track it with the Postal Registration number.

I called up the PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER (PUBLIC GRIEVANCES), but according to them, they dont have a track od the SpeedPost number. They asked me to speak to GPO delhi.

I called up GPO delhi, but they gave me the same answer as the Post Office, they cannnot track anthing with the Postal Registration number.

I emailed the PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER (PUBLIC GRIEVANCES), and even after mentioning all the details in my email they responded back with the same old "Postal Registration" number and asked to get in touch with my area Postman and Post Office.

I responded to this reply stating that nothing can be tracked with the Postal Registration number, but I have not received any response to my email.

I'm in a fix, how do I track my Passport now? I had spend 1500Rs extra to apply the passport under Tatkaal just to receive the passport on time, but now it seems the money has gone wasted.

I'm really worried, please help me out. I need this passport urgently, as I have to take up a new assignment with an organization on 20th July, 2009 and they would cancel my appointment, If do not have a valid passport on my joining day.(Which doesn't seem possible any more)
