[Resolved]  Reliance Fresh, Jharsa Road, Gurgaon — Sold Decayed Paneer.

Hi,

I purchased 3 packs of Paneer from Reliance Fresh, which was marked down 50% from its MRP. However, the Paneer's manufacturing date was 15th November and its best to be used till 25/11/2011. (10 days from d.o.m)

I opened 1 pack out of it and found Paneer is unusable for human use (rotten and decayed). I asked the store incharge Harish ([protected]) to get it returned. But, he refused to take it back (even sealed pack pieces also), stating that marked down dairy products are not taken back even if they are rotten.

And the argument Harish gave me is that, we marked it down because we knew its near to expiry and consumer is fully aware of the risk buying it at 50% of its price.

My question is how can a product be near to expiry in just half the days of its lifetime. (5 days out of 10)
I have returned the product in half an hour of purchasing, so they can not blame me for not maintaining its temperature below 4 Degrees (condition for 10 days of product life).

Its a clear case of selling a rotten product when the store was fully aware that the product is unusable. (Otherwise, they generally mark it down on the last or 2nd last day)

I just don't need a refund but a strong action against them so that they should not continue such unfair practice with other customers. I'm trying to get to their area manager and to the upper hierarchy.
