The Royal Enfield is taking people for granted as though they enjoy a strong monopoly. Their attitude towards the consumers is 'JUST NOT RIGHT'. I ws informed that they production capacity for the Classic series stands at only 130 units/day, then i dont understand why is their strong promises from the showrooms and why can't they name it a Limited Edition or something. So that atleast the consumers dont build false hopes.

My question to R.E would be this:

"WHY LAUNCH A PRODUCT WHEN YOU ARE SURE YOU CANT DELIVER??"

Regards,

K.M.RAM
This is to put forward my case of psychological stress and mental trauma faced by booking a Royal Enfield Classic 500.

BACKGROUND:
I am a die-hard fan of Royal Enfiled motorcycles and proud owner of a Machismo 350. .
I love to tour on my Machismo and even the Royal Enfield official website has acknowledged the fact by publishing my photographs in the "Picture of the week" section, several times.

CASE:
I had been eagerly waiting for the launch of Classic 500 in India, since its introduction in the International market.
After the launch, as soon as i could manage to arrange for the finances, i went ahead and booked a Classic 500 and put my machismo on sale.

FACTS:

Booking Date: 8th of December 2009
Booking amount: Rs Ten thousand only.
Booking for: Royal Enfield CLASSIC 500
Booking at: Royal Enfield Brand Store, Bangalore.

On-Road Price at the time of booking: Rs 1, 43, 000. (+ - Rs.500)

Promised delivery date: 8th of February, 2010.

Since the day of booking, i have been eagerly waiting for the bike and have been regularly following it up with the Brand Store.
I got a letter from the Royal Enfiled Brand store (dated: 9th March 2010) stating that i would positively receive the bike by the 4th week of March.

Today is 8th of April, and still there is no news on the bike.
THE ISSUE:

At the Brand Store, i was also told that the Price of the Bike has increased as a result of the union budget, and i would have to pay the increased price for the bike, when it is delivered.

Now, why should i pay the extra amount for the delay caused by the compnay? Or is it the price one has to pay for being passionate ?

I booked the bike with initial booking amount, and was given delivery date of 8th Febroary, 2010. ( before the union budget)

Its not my fault that Royal Enfield company did not deliver the bike on the promised delivery date, ( and still there is no surety of a delivery date), and in the mean while the new budget has increased the price of the bike, and finally i, the customer has to bear the extra cost. Is this my fault ?

If this was mentioned during the time of booking I would have prepared myself for this.

The last 4 months of waiting for the bike, without any realistic delivery date, has given me enough mental tension and trauma, and on top of that, now i am also expected to pay a much higher price of for the bike.

I would request someone to look in to this matter, and take some appropriate action, before people like me get dissapointed and loose the Passion towards the Royal Enfield Motorcycles.

Still Waiting..
Hi All,

I strongly agree with “Enfield Classic 350 Delay in delivery” because I do have the same case, but I have a question. Is there any person or any team is working on consumer complains? If yes then its okay, I would say it’s great, but if not then where should we go? As all complain from RE users, who loves there bikes deadly. May it happen with other products also.

So any body is there, who is listening the voice of consumer regarding there complains?? Or let us know the alternate way.

Please comment on this.

Please comment on this. I SOLD MY RE THUNDER BIRD, EXPECTING DELIVERY OF THE BIKE ON DATE
I booked RE Classic 350 in Nov 2009 where the dealer "Sharda Motors - Goregaon West, Mumbai" guaranteed that the delivery will be given in Dec 2009. I waited till 25th when he told me to wait till Jan 2010 since I will be getting a 2010 Model for which I said OK.
I had my birthday in Jan when I urged him to deliver & he told me he is already pressurising the RE people for the same. However, by the time it was Feb 2010, he told me I will surely get in Mar 2010.
Later in Mar, he informed me, there are few bikes he is receiving in April 1st week, so I need to hold on till that time.
I waited for the whole of April when yesterday I called him, he is telling me, kindly take your money back since the production has gone drastically low due to company facing problem in sourcing the parts & paints.
These dealers are also not bothered on proactively informing customers.
I parked my money of Rs. 50, 000/- for no reason for past 06 months...thanks to RE & the dealer...glad for wasting people's time & follow ups.
If RE is incapable of doing it, atleast have a courtesy to inform respective customers through dealers on regret in delivery caused & when customers are likely to receive the vehicle.
Just not bothered being on Cloud 9...wait for another 3 years when they face competition...!

Hope these complaints are taken seriously

I've booked my Classic 500 in April 2010 from 2 dealerships in Chennai, after paying 1000 each only as booking amount. Whichever dealership delivers first, I will take delivery from them. Latest I heard from them is that they have stopped taking bookings for Classic 350 altogether; reason supposedly being that they are concentrating on increasing production of Classic 500.

Realistically, I do not expect my bike to be delivered in less than 6 months from the time of booking. In fact, at the time of booking I had to sign a disclaimer which stated that the Company will not be held responsible if they cannot deliver within the promised time.

Guys, this is India and the consumer here never is, never was and never will be king. There is nothing you or I can do about it. Patience in India is not only desirable, but essential if one has to keep ones sanity.

It is clear that RE is concentrating on their overseas market (sales in Europe and the US for the bike is peaking) where they want to establish their presence. Probably, production is tweaked to meet those demands and as usual the Indian consumer is left wanting. They anyway launched and sold the 500 in Europe first. It is purely a financial decision; as with most companies there is no "heart" involved here and they dont really care about so self called "die hard" bullet fans or whatever.

I already have a Bullet 500, a RD 350 and an RX 100 in my garage so can play with these until my Classic is delivered.

Companies like RE will not survive very long. Sure, they make good bikes which appeal to many, but their think tanks will let them down one day. Their problem is that they dont have the pulse of the customers --- running a Company by remote has never worked in the past. They need to take some lessons from a Company like Tata.

Hope you guys get delivery of your bikes soon --- believe me, the wait will have been well worth it !!

Cheers !

Well.. read all the comments and I totally agree to all the baove comments..
I am also one among you...I booked my classic 350 in january 2010... still waiting...dont know when its going to be delivered...
Now what they are saying is it will be delivered between May 15th to June 15th...I dont know why they cant give a fixed date or a small time frame of one week...
Does RE thinks that we dont have anything to do in this world and we are equally lazy and late as they are...

I know once the bike is delivered... i will be very happy... But what about the waiting period...
One looses all his passion and interest if they have to wait for 6 months.. not because we cant get it... coz the company is unable to prove its competency...

RE please consider these comments seriously...
because you are putting the enfield lovers into a very shameful position when others ask... Have u got ur bike... wat-- still waiting...-Gr8...
Hi naveen,

I am from bangalore. Just wanted to let you know. even i booked my bike on January. They said bike will delivered by June without fail...Just now i got a call from sales team and they said...Bike will be delivered without fail after 1 more month...And they will try to deliver...this is worst...i am going for other bike...i lost all the interest on this bike...
Hi All,
I am also a big fan of RE like al you folks. Intially i planned to buy Electra but later on i switched my mind to Classic 350. I had a word with dealers in PUNE, MUMBAI, BANGALORE and CHENNAI. All have the same story.

Classic 350- No more bookings as they are overloaded with oders :)
Classic 500- Black one 10 mths waiting period and the other two colors 13 mths waiting.

So in short I have to wait for 13 mths to get my bike. Guys are we in stone age that we need to wait. Simply very very lame way of handling things and then we talk customer as god. SHAME !!
Now i have 2 options either I buy Electra with a 60 day waiting period or wait for 13 mths.

Cheers,
PN
I have booked one Thunderbird at Bangalore... At the time of booking, showroom people told me that model has 3 months waiting (max).

They said that I can enquire about the status by giving them a call. I called up twice but the only answer i got was "We have not received your bike"

Does that mean that they have no idea when the bike will be actually delivered. They start their business hoping surprise deliveries by SANTA CLAUS.

I wrote strong feedback email to CUSTOMER SERVICES. They replied back saying that area sales manager will call back. He called up, apologized and promised delivery to be done within 3 months. Delivery is due in August, let me see what happens.

2. Initially I was interested in buying new ELECTRA, but none of showrooms in Bangalore has the test-drive bike. How can I buy something without testing it. I have hard earned 1 lakh on stake.

3. The way dealers are responding while we are buyinh, I have serious doubts that they we can expect some accountability from them during service time.

If it goes the same way, I will cancel my order and go for some other bike.

Hi,
This is Subhadeep from Hyderabad. I went to the Royal Enfield showroom and told that I have to wait 9 months after booking to get Classic 500. If this situation continues the company going to loose almost all of there customers. Bullet motorcycles are not really known for speeding but the image; its pretty much stands different from any other Indian two wheeler manufacturers. If Harley would have been a competitor for Enfield in India possibly the situations would have been different. The time they have asked for, it is very much possible I may loose interest. I am also wondering if it is sold in black by the company itself.
ROYAL ENFIELD DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE IN LAUNCHING NEW PRODUCTS AND THE WAIT LIST GOES FOR MONTHS, THIS IS INSANE, WHAT ARE THEY TRYING TO DO.. CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN...!!! PLEASE...
EXACTLY WHAT ARE THEY TRYING TO DO..??????
6 MONTH WAIT LIST FOR A CLASSIC 350. ARE THEY FOR REAL?
ARE THE PEOPLE IN THE MANAGEMENT SLEEPING OR WHAT, CAN'T THEY SEE WHATS GOING ON.
AFTER THE SUCCESS OF CLASSIC 500 THEY SHOULD HAVE BUCKLED UP FOR 350, BUT NO EFFORT WHAT SO EVER, "ROYAL ENFIELD IS BEING RUN BY BUNCH OF .. AND THAT IS THE BOTTOM LINE".
waiting for classic 350 is 8 to 10 months and is similar for thunderbird...RE will surely loose their customers...there new plant is coming up by 2013..whose going to wait...
Hi,
I have booked my Classic 350 Enfiled in June 2011. Though they told me at that time itself that the waiting would be about 8 - 9 months, I frequently see friends or hear about people who get their bikes in les than a month by 1) Paying about 15K extra and 2) by flaunting connections (police or politician). When I called them again about a week ago, the showroon guys now tell me that the waiting period has gone up to about 12 months. This is extremely frustrating. Can anyone help me get the bike sooner.
Hi,

I too have booked RE Electra UCE, I booked it in April 2011, and the expected wait period was 8 months it is close to 10 months now and the showroom guys ( Bangalore ) keep on saying they have not got any updates yet or they are trying their best. I have heard these lame excuses for long.
I think we need to make the younger generation aware of these delays which generally not known, through social network medium.
If it gets further delayed I am thinking of lodging a consumer complaint at the consumer court.

Royal Enfield — Abt dealer

Sir,I bought royal enfold tidy from Vadodara dealership &its owner mr.ravi ask mee 1000rs more for bike but he will not agree to give me it's receipt and ask to give me for 1000 Rs more and speak me guilty words and push out met from his premises and he take1000 Rs cash from me now what can I do? Against him
People here says of filing a complaint in consumer court, did anybody really went ahead and filed a complaint again the RE people or the RE dealers?
I booked my RE classic 350 last year 16th September, 2011 from Teknik motors in sarjapur road bangalore and till now I didnt got my bike delivered and its more than a year now.
If anybody had filed a complaint against any RE dealers or company then do let me know, I am also keen on doing that just dont know how to do that.
Its for sure that the wait period is not this much if you are ready to shell extra money in black, bribing the dealer, which I dont want to and against it.
Let me know if anybody is planning to file a case against the RE or already filed it so that I can also go ahead with that.
