I too got the similar kind of mail, where I was told that I have won GBP 200, 000 and have been asked to deposit INR.44, 200/- to get my FRO. At first I was so excited, but, I had a doubt in my mind and search in the net to find out its genuinity. To my shock I found there are several people who have received such mails, and unfortunately some have been already cheated! Thank God I did not fall into this trap!

As you all can see, I too have received this stupid piece of JUNK MAIL, with a few differences though, such as the place this email originates, the amount (or at least the currency is different). I live in Canada, so this looks to me like this is a global disease that seems to be spreading quickly. I have had emails like this one MANY times before, and I do not DARE open them anymore. I opened and responded to one very similar to this one (supposedly affiliated with a completely different company though, but the place, contents, person who sent it, and the information was all EXACTLY the same thing), the very first time I ever received one... And well, let us just say it is not as "innocent as it looks" because my pc contracted one of the worst viruses IT HAD EVER HAD. That was almost 2 years ago, and I am still trying to fend off remnants of whatever that terrible virus was.

As you all can see, I too have received this stupid piece of JUNK MAIL, with a few differences though, such as the place this email originates, the amount (or at least the currency is different). I live in Canada, so this looks to me like this is a global disease that seems to be spreading quickly. I have had emails like this one MANY times before, and I do not DARE open them anymore. I opened and responded to one very similar to this one (supposedly affiliated with a completely different company though, but the place, contents, person who sent it, and the information was all EXACTLY the same thing), the very first time I ever received one... And well, let us just say it is not as "innocent as it looks" because my pc contracted one of the worst viruses IT HAD EVER HAD. That was almost 2 years ago, and I am still trying to fend off remnants of whatever that terrible virus was.

2009 Shell U.K World Wide Mobile Award — Misuse of Shell's Name
Sir,someone is misusing your name. They are first sending an SMS to a person's mobile saying that he/she has won 200, 000GBP. Then they ask for the person's address and other details. They ask to choose from telegraphic transfer and Diplomatic system of payment(in which they say some"door step delivery") for "giving this cash prize" to the person. This happened to me. I thought I'll go till I find out that all this is cheating. So I chose "Diplomatic System of payment" After this they say they send their diplomat to my country and ask for $950 as for the "settlement of the shipment and Airport clearance charges". That's a considerable sum in India...its almost 50, 000 rupees. I think they would have run away with it if I had taken it to the airport and given it to their "diplomat". I questioned them asking if they could afford to give away 200, 000GBP why can't they along with that spend some 950$ themselves. For this I haven't got any reply till today. I can give you their email ids if you want it. Please do not show them that it was me who made the complaint as I'm afraid they may take revenge.
