[Resolved] Skoda Laura — AC Compressor Defect | |||
This Vehicle is having a serious Manufacture defect in its AC Compressor. If you are lucky and if this problem comes to your notice with in 2 years then the company will replace free of charge else you have to shell out Rs.80,000/- just for the compressor, which is an Exorbitant price the company is charging, which we can get the same model compressor for Rs.25,000/- from outside. For a company whose caption is "Obsessed with Quality" it is a full contrast in reality. After investigating what i found out is that every 1 in 3 Vehicle is having this problem. And the Compressor is made as per the German Standard, which is basically a good one, but in Indian weather condition it is not suitable. And i also found out that these Vehicles are having small electrical problems like in AC Control Switch, Air Bag Fault ( where Air Bag sensor fails) etc When this AC Compressor problem develops in Skoda vehicles, a lot of the owners will not notice it until Summer Season. As the cooling drops and in non summer season we will notice the drop in cooling until Summer. My advice to everyone is avoid buying any Skoda Vehicles until the AC Compressor is made according to Indian Weather conditions. With the price they are charging for the spares and service charge, it is better to buy a Mercedes Benz. I am getting a new compressor installed in my car from outside where they are charging only Rs.25,000/- and also give 3 years Guarantee with it. Thanks for explaining the things clearly which i am facing right now and in a dilemma to spend the money with the company (Rs.85000) or Outside (Rs.25000). Now i am decided to go with you in spending 25K.

I have recently had a terrible experience with Skoda which has costed me a lot of money, harassment and still an unreliable Skoda Superb car. Astonishingly, The Skoda Company is hands-in-gloves with its Dealerships & Authorized Workshops, who are given a free-hand to exploit customers and fleece them mercilessly by Skoda itself.
I empathize with the similar exploitation inflicted on you by Skoda and hence urge you to not let it just be at the hands of foreign companies, who think of India as a dumping ground and Indian Customers a bunc of weak, uneducated .
I am creating a forum of 100 similar sufferers who can together jointly address our issues with Skoda to apt regulatory, media, public and rating agencies till we get a resolution.
Await your revert and support to reclaim what is rightfully ours.

i am using skoda laura l&k varient. now my vehicle problem with ac skoda dealer says to replace total kit. it cost around a total ammount of 1Lakh. now iam decided to replace it from outside. that's cost was around a total ammount of 40000/-.

I am having LAURA 2012 model and. facing the. same. problem wither conditioning.got. deal from outside workshop in KarolBagh Delhi, he is. giving me new compressor and condenser with gas filling and service charge in package of RS. 22000/-. with one. year warrantee. against. an estimate of one lakh by Skoda dealer

yes. my skoda laura diesel automatic december 2011 is having the same ac issue. it stops working after 1 hour. the authorized workshop has asked to replace for a whopping estimate of similar cost. only if we could drag skoda india to consumer court.

I enquired few local dealers in Ahmedabad who would do the same in 25 to 30 K
Someone pls suggest me is it safe to hand over a crutial job of AC repair to a local dealer for a brand like Skoda ? Is it safe and reliable to get it done locally ?
Any experiences of replacing the compressor from local dealers ? Pls share and help out
