[Resolved]  Sony / Vaio — Extended Warranty

I own a Sony Vaio laptop model VPCEB14EN (white color) bearing serial no: 7001512. This was purchased on 12th April 2010 from Kochi, Kerala. On the 5th of March, 2011, I paid Rs.5000/- with my nearest Sony World for purchasing extended warranty for 2 years. At the time of payment I was told by the dealer that warranty documents will be available to me within 2 weeks. But now it is more than a month and I have no update on the warranty extension. On contacting Sony, I was told that warranty extension for my laptop has not reflected in the system yet. As per dealer this delay is due to some system upgrade at Sony end.

However the bottom line is, my original warranty has expired and I have no update on the purchase of extended warranty even though I have paid for the same more than a month back.

I have registered this as an issue with Sony India on 11th April. Issue Id is 7272805.I have sent them the following

1. Scanned copy of original purchase bill
2. Scanned copy of Sony India warranty card
3. Scanned copy of the receipt received from Sony world for the Rs.5000/- paid towards extended warranty purchase

Till date I have not received any update to this registered issue even though as per Sony India website, some one should have got back to me in 48 hours. I talked to customer service representative today and his update is issue has been taken up with regional office and again he is not giving any timeline for resolution or further update.

Then I asked him if I need a service for my Vaio today on warranty will you give it and to my surprise the answer was "NO". How can a company like Sony be so irresponsible?

Only option left for me is to approach the local consumer court and take this matter legally

For a company like Sony, I am disappointed on your process for purchase of this extended warranty. It would have great if this process was a bit more user friendly and transparent
