[Resolved]  Standard Chartered Bank — unlawful charges and force ful reclosure of loan.

Subject: Conveying my Grievance ….
Dear Sir,
I am Yogesh Borhade and I hold “Manhattan Card” [protected] and mileage a/c #[protected] of your bank since 2005. With big disappointment I am writing you about my harassment from your bank policies and utter dis-concern for your customer.
I had availed loans from Manhattan Card a/c under ‘DIAL A LOAN’ and ‘MANHATTAN MULTIPLIE’ basis, of card credit limit since July 2007. It was agreed for @Rs 10000/- (consolidated for both loan amounts) installments for 24 months starting from July 07 to July 09. For first 2-3 months it was running fine and my Manhattan card shown no. of installments paid and no. of balance installments. Attached is the photo copy of Spe 07 statement.
In Sep 07 I got customer care call from Manhattan card for up gradation of my existing card to ‘Titanium card’, with some holiday package and for fees of Rs 3500/-.
After some enquiries I came to know that the same card was available without any fees. Subsequently I never received the ‘Titanium card’, but I received the statement of the same.
After contacting the customer care I cancelled the Titanium card request and asked to retain my old Manhattan card.
Now after all this I received my Manhattan card statements showing full loan recovery amount in one single installment. In which so many late fees and interest charges got added. Attached is the photo copy of Nov 07 statement. After this I contacted customer care, and I had been assured that my card statement will get corrected to old installment fashion, and I should continue paying Rs 10000/- as agreed before and on same date schedule. So that I will not get charged for any late fees and interest after correction in statements. After this I had to go out of India. Even after assurance of customer care, my statement keep showing late fees and interest as it was not full payments. So I was in touch with bank through mails. One Mr. Sathya was in my contact and I had explained my all case to him. Then I came to know through him that, because of switching over of Manhattan card to Titanium card, my old accounts got closed, even my loan a/c s got closed as per closer, and started to reflect as new borrowed amount. And to make all those loans as previous I had to start Manhattan card again, and then put new request to convert these amounts to loan and etc.


Now in this entire story I never understood following things.
1) I had never been informed that upgrading from one type card to other means closing of old one.
2) Even closing of old card means closing of all loans a/c and converting the payment of the balance loan in one single installment, which is ridiculous…..
3) How you can charge Rs 3500/- extra for up gradation of old card when it was available free for any new customer. I received a statement demanding this amount, which was actually false.
4) I had never been told about closing of loan accounts, it was without my consent. In non of my communication did I ever convey that I wanted to close my loan account. And you must have charged pre closer fees for same without my knowledge.
If this could have been informed me earlier I could never agreed to switchover the new upgraded card.
All this is merely a cheating and big harassment to me or any customer.
Even after contact through mails I never got any satisfactory answers, they always told me that I have been issued new Manhattan card and new a/c, which never reached me. Attached is the photo copy of Spe 08 statement. I would like to request you to put me in my old a/c form, and remove all unethical late fees and interest charges which you have charged from day one. I will keep paying the Rs 10000/- per month as per the pre defined schedule, irrespective to creat new Manhatten card or no. Rest of the amounts and charges you take care.
This is a pure case of harassment and I will have to take further strict legal action if this is not resolved at the earliest.
I hope and am optimistic that you will do your best and relive me of further harassment in the good will of your banks loyal customer.
