[Resolved]  Standard Chartered — Credit Card Application denied without justification

To whoever it may concern,

I received two letters dated 7th jan 2010[Ref No.: BVN0319HKT] and 19th Jan 2010[Ref No. CAG0310VRT] from Standard Chartered Bank. It states the rejection of my application for credit card siting the following reason:

- Does not meet bank policy norms

Would request an explanation on the relevant bank policy norms that have not been met!

While you may explain your stand, I'd like to inform you that representatives from your bank have hassled me for about two months now. While I obliged your representatives with all necessary documents requested, your bank it seems has paid no attention to the submitted documents.

Once the first set of documents were submitted in completion, your representative approaches me again with the same set of documents to be filled up one more time. This time however, he had come up with a new policy to safeguard theft of credit cards. He even went ahead claiming that if I do not take the offer, I might not get the credit card. I promptly denied taking the policy, requesting processing of the card application first.

Multiple submission of the same set of documents by your representatives have proved detrimental to my chances of getting a credit card. This has inevitably led to two letters of rejection from the bank.

One complete round of verification had been completed(including the verification call from Bangalore), untill a new agent approaches me with the same set of documents. This gentleman was completely unaware that one of your sales representatives had already taken the documents not once but twice!! Another round of verifications begin but are never concluded.

It does not end here. Another new face comes over to my office to have my documents attested, which I promptly did. After having been pestered by an organization so un-organized as yours, I demand an explanation of greater detail than the one-liner submitted!!!!

Even after the bank had served two letters of rejection, representatives from your bank started to call me again after about a month to re-start the entire procedure once again siting 'technical glitch' in their previous instances of processing.

It is a matter of concern if salaried individuals like me earning in excess of 10 L per annum are being rejected a credit card. I would like to have an detailed explanation for such ir-responsible behavior from a bank of your repute!

I have been through something similar with this bank. My credit card application was reejcted without any intimation via call/letter, and now the bank is refusing to return my documents.

sc credit card — application for credit card declined

i hv bee given to understand by yr c.s that my cr.card application ref no DLG2208XUD01HAS GOR REJECTED TO TO APPLICATION MADE TWICE.
I WANT U TO FURTHER LOOK INTO THIS MATTER AND CARD MY CR.CARD APPLICATION APPROVED.
I have suffered the same response, even after multiple mails to the bank and requesting a reason for denial, just a single mail that they can not disclose the reason. just a bunch of B*&-S*^&&T in there mail
I have the same experience, my Standard Chartered Credit Card got denied/rejected with no explanation and no reason.

How are they allowed to keep our documents and not give us an appropriate reason as to why we "did not meet bank policy norms"? I have provided them every thing, every document and every formality was fulfilled and I was well above the minimum salary requirements as well. In fact, they even called my parents who are abroad and asked them INANE stupid questions like, 'are you aware that your daughter has applied for a credit card?' and 'do you approve?'!!! Excuse me, but I am a full grown independent working woman of 28 years who does not need the permission or financial backing of my parents.

Besides this ridiculousness, the person who called me after I raised a hue and cry on their social networks promised to give me a reference code, but I am yet to receive an email. This just goes to show the level of mediocrity that they have at Standard Chartered.

Since I don't have a reference number due to the unprofessional attitude of their employees, I only have my Credit Card Application Status number - #GFD6013BRK01

Utterly disgusted with Standard Chartered and I'm telling everyone I know about their malpractices.
I have same exp with Standard Chartered. I keep on getting frequent calls & emails to apply for standard chartered credit card. Finally I thought to go with this and applied (#CCHR539A3V). I also got a rejection stating one liner - "application did not meet internal criterion.". I had multiple followups with them asking the reason. But Bank is not ready to share.

Highly disgusting.

Standard Chartered people, if you ever come to read this, please mind this incorrect practice. You have full right to reject for credit but customers should have rights to know.

I dont know if there are any regulations in India that enforces Banks to share the reason for rejection, I am checking with my friends in legal. I will post back if I get something in favour of customers.
Same recently I also got rejected my card application without not even calling me. I am earning 21.3 lakhs per annum as salaried employee. Also I have 755 score in cibil
I too have the similar experience. Earlier I have used scb cc. Later I have discarded. And after some 8 years later, applied for scb cc. Repeatedly my application is being rejected. They are supposed to detail the reason for rejection. That is unfair from their side. I think crazy ppl are over there...I even have all major CC s/a CITIBANK, ICICI, HDFC and SBI.
Same happened with me today, my credit card application was denied, that too without reason.
I have no loans, no dues, no other credit card.
This bank has hired unprofessional people, its going to lose its market.
Same happened to me today. It seems this company is run by ###. I wish there is negative rating for this company.

I wasn't interested for SC card but when official too much forced me to apply as it's giving good discount and without and yearly charge I said Ok. However to my surprise it's got rejected without giving any proper explanation which will affect my credit history. Very bad experience will never go any product

I got 10 credit cards from all famous banks and have credit limit worth 24 lakhs, salaried 18L per annum. Still ### no good explanation for rejecting my application.
I applied the card on 13th december 2018 online and they checked my cibil on the same date as per my cibil report which is also very gud, then SCB contacted me for the dox on the same day.After that verification part is done on 19th of december and the guy says u will get ur credit card with in 4 to 5 days .And on 24th when I called them to know the status SCB customer care said it has been declined with the same status ---Doesnt meet Bank policy . Even my itr is 12 .50 lacs, already having credit cards of Amex, Axis, Hdfc Regalia, kotak royale . Is it really a banking or I think SCB is having worst underwriters and management . Disgussting Bank.

I think they dont have sufficient credits to lend the customers but just to be in market this fake process of application is going on...
I also came across the same. This week received mail from ecomm.[protected]@sc.com saying credit card application rejected since do not meet bank policy.
No explanation on what policy it is. They collected my adhar and pan copy. Also a passport size photograph. I am worried about it too..if someone miss using our documents.. what to do about it???
