had a Standard Chartered Credit card in the year 2000. I paid all my dues, called customer care and cancelled the card. Destroyed the card at my end and handed over the same to the banker. but my name reflects on CIBIL how to clear it.

Standard Chartered Bank/Credit Card Dues — Wrong information to CIBIL
I was holding 3 credit cards of Standard Chartered Bank about 10 or 12 years back. I had come to an agreement with the bank for a settlement of all the 3 cards in 2003 and as per the agreement all the dues were settled. The settlement letters were also issued to me stating that there is no outstanding dues.In the month of June 2010 when I approached a Nationalised Bank for securing education loan for the higher studies of my son I was informed by the bank that there was huge overdues on Credit Card transactions. It was a rude shock for me and I felt that the bank had not updated its records properly and has given wrong information to CIBIL. This has affected my credibility in the society.
Standard Chartered Bank has been in the limelight for wrong reasons. It has least concern for its customers and has been using unfair means in extorting money from gullible customers.
The RBI should step in and haul up such erring banks and financial institutions.
Anyhow I have written to the bankers seeking their clarification on this issue and awaiting their response.
Readers who have experienced such a turmoil may share their views with me and the action taken by them to set right things in the proper perspective.
