[Resolved]  Tanishq — Giving misleading information and then harassing consumers

Purchase of Gold: Tanishq showroom, Cathedral Road, Chennai

My Mother, Mrs. Sridevi Kumar was a regular Tanishq customer for the last 5 years. Last year in December, she took up the Golden Harvest scheme for Rs. 5000/- a month. On Nov 5th this year (2010), we made our payment for the 11th month of the scheme and called the Showroom/office in Cathedral road, Chennai to inquire when we could make our purchase.

They asked us to call after 5th Dec 2010, saying the 12th month payment would be done on that day. When we called the same showroom on 7th Dec 2010, they said we "could come anytime and make our purchase". So, we went on 8th Dec 2010. As soon as we approached the sales executive, we told him about us being part of the GHS. About an hour later, when we made our selection, at the time of billing, he said that our scheme had not matured at that we could make the purchase only after 20th Dec.

When we told him that we had called them the previous day and were asked to come immediately; he said that "no one would have said that". First of all, they misguided us, wasted our time (I had to take leave from work to make this purchase, as it was to be part of my wedding collection), and then absolutely lacked courtesy, making it sound as if we were lying.

My mother has written a formal complaint in the suggestions book at the showroom, but I'm not sure if that would be looked into with any seriousness.

I would like to express great disappointment in their services. With the steep escalation in gold prices, this delay will make us lose our money's worth. Also, I would like to mention here that we were planning to buy all my wedding gold at Tanishq but thanks to this dismal experience, we would no longer be making any further purchases with them.

It is my sincere hope that henceforth such incidents do not happen and customers are treated in a better manner. I wanted to let people know about this incident so that others are careful when they enter into such schemes.

I have a similar situation, placed order with the showroom, they asked for 45 days to complete the order.
After 2 months they call us to collect the jewellery, but now they have reduced the weight of the ornament + added 10k extra for each.
Emailed the above Customer care but customer care team has not replied to my email since last week.
