[Resolved] Tata Sky — Set top boxes provided are OLD and new ones come with MPEG4 technology | |
I purchased 2 Tatasky connections in Jan 2010 from different dealers in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. I was told that the set top box are the latest available and from the latest stock. The person who came from Tatasky also did not tell us that now MPEG4 set top boxes are being sold at the same price as the one purchased by us. On taking up the matter with Tatasky directly they told us that it is a dealer problem and the set top boxes have been activated so they cannot change the same. I would like to take this matter strongly with Tatasky and would like to get my set top boxes changed to MPEG4 compliant boxes. Also, I would not like other consumers be cheated on the same. Lately Tata Sky has introduced new Black set top boxes with MPEG4 technology. Since you have made recent purchases you should have recieved the new box as there must have been a refreshed stock with the dealers. The price is the same and MPEG4 being a compression format it will be interlinked with the transponders to infuse more channels so in a way it will not be much of a difference if you will posses a MPEG2 box either because of the new boxes the channel capacity will be higher that Tata Sky will broadcast which you too will be able to enjoy. The compression format does not effect the channel quality as it is directly related to the transponder space clearly defining the number of channel to be increased by the broadcaster. So there need not be any worries as you too will receive all NEW channels that Tata Sky introduce.
