[Resolved] Tata Sumo Grande — car with loads of problems | |
I purchased a tata sumo grande top model with reg plate SK 01P0325. The car is running 27000kms and has already given loads of problems with the clutch which results in poor pickup and sloppy transmission. This is a private vehicle and such problems with the clutch is not acceptable in its service line. The spare parts are not only unavailable at that moment but are not delievered within the projected delivery time. The maintenance cost thus far have been very unreal and unexpected from a car under a reputed brand name as TATA. Also the interiors especially the power window switches, door handles, latches, seat belts etc are of very poor quality and i have already replaced them couple of times within this 27200kms. This has not only been a bad buy, but has been the biggest blunder in all the cars that i have purchased so far. No value for money...rather a big liability to you. The problem with a leaking turbo return oil pipe and the driver side power window has still not been resolved after repeated visits to the servie center here. Clearly reflects negligence on the part of tata motors. I am seriously thinking of MOVING TO CONSUMER COURTS....TATA MOTORS NEED TO TAKE NOTICE AND ACT!!...You stand with a totally dissatisfied customer!!! Was this information helpful? | |

I am really agree with the above complain. I am working in a managerial position in Saudi Arabia and based on my recommendation my company purchased 30 buses of TATA. Now, i have a sorry figure in front of them. Reason - poor workmanship - buses delivered to us with already damaged interior and putty applied and not repainted or polished, lot of problems with clutch, transmission, and so on.
Spare parts are not available in the Saudi Arabia too. We placed order for the spares with an exporter in India but of no avail, as he could not get the spares from the Tata Dealers. Everytime, they give time frame but no spares.
TATA is taking its consumers for granted. It seems no higher management is taking care of these things.
Sorry part is that my company cancelled their order for additional 30 buses and have gone for Korean bus. What a pity ? Is this the reputation we should develop for MADE IN INDIA products. I purchased a car for myself in India and ironically my company asked me WHY DID YOU NOT PURCHASE A TATA WHICH IS A VERY GOOD VEHICLE !!!

One of my friend who always patronise TATA cars was having SUMO for more than 10 years and shifted recently( a year back) to TATA sumo Grande, and whereas i have opted for other brand. His car has run not even 27000 KM and is off the road due to clutch failiure and was towed down by the TATA help line service to the nearest service show room called OMR service. Now after a week or so the service center estimated a damage of 18000 Rs plus or minus 5% complaining the clutch had worn out and reasoning clutch run as the cause. it was shocking to me because it is remote possibility the cause being as clutch run as the same driver who had driven the SUMO previous verison for more than 70000 KM without any complaint. the complaint to TATA sumo customer care is yielding no result and i am advising him to take to consumer forum.The warranty and guarantee by such a corporate are all just a mockery. the service was poor. no complaint was pointed out in the previous services during the warranty period and the service center is not willing to service this car under warranty. so i will not recommend TATA grande.or any TATA product as i have experienced in TATA tele service similar issues. TATA needs to wake up and address the consumers otherwise they will vanish soon.
