I boarded the Taxi no. WB04F 1937 from Beadon Street to Topsia bypass today, i.e. 04/09/13 at around 10 a.m. The meter reading was 50 and he therefore charged Rs 120. I regularly travel in that way and I am charged around Rs 97 to Rs 100 every day. There was regular traffic condition, like all other day. I have the print out of the bill where the Kilometer is shown as 8.8 Km. After visiting the Kolkata Taxi site, I realized that he has charged extra and the fair should have been Rs 97. On inquiry, the driver was very rude and arrogant. He did not accept to the fact that the meter reading was wrong and instead asked me to launch a complain if I wish. Such behavior is not tolerable when some-one has been caught in the wrong foot. I would request the forum to protect my rights and take action against such cheating and fraudulent activity.
