[Resolved]  Toyota Fortuner — Brakes

Address:South Delhi, Delhi

I purchased 2 fortuner reg no DL 3CBD 3283 & DL3CBD3285 in the month of March/April 2010.On first service I told the service executive that the breaks dont work properly and even after 2 complaints/ visit to M/s GalaxyToyota Moti Nagar the breaks are not effective and I fear that with these breaks I will definately meet with an accident. I have other 4x4 suv's also. Those vehicles are having effective breaks. Please look into it take necessary action.

Hi all,

I have bought a fortuner in March 2010, its without ABS, brakes are very bad. on sudden braking, the front wheels jam, while the rear moves freely (the brake might be working little less on raer wheels, but what I see, no tyre marks on road for rear wheels). Checked with Toyota workshop, they say it is designed like this to not skid sideways ! ! What I have found that due to jaming of front wheels and with free rear wheels the vehicle slips more due to all weight pushing it forward. I have asked the workshop incharge that if this technology is so good, show me any single car from Toyota or any other brand using this technology, anyhow he has taken the car for 3 days, lets hope. Anyone has suggestions ?
I have a Toyota Fortuner SUV for about an year now. I have been unhappy with the brakes ever since I bought the car and have made several complaints to their dealership - Ravindu to get this fixed. Everytime the car comes back saying that the brakes have been fixed - but the result is the same.

Fortuner's brakes (I feel) have an inherent design issue. They dont work well at lower REVS of the engine - especially. This could probably be due to the under design of the booster system or the master cylinder itself. Whatever it is, Toyota needs to fix this - since it's a serious safety issue. The car does not stop - when needed.

As an ex-national rally driver, I know a thing or two about cars. I know for sure that the Toyota Fortuner brake system has an issue - probably a design fault. This complaint is in the interest of passenger and public safety. Toyota better wake up and do something about this immediately.
