Toyota Prius 2004 — Rear brake light failure
Your manual and literature state that the LED brake lights do not require replacement since they have a life time guarantee. Hence should one fail, the design make sit impossible to replace the LEDs since they are in a sealed unit. The cost of this unit in Australia is$399. You may be aware that there has been a problem with Prius brake lights in Australia. Does Toyota reimburse the cost of the faulty brake light? My repairer has just informed me that there are no brake lights units available in Australia, and a part has to be sent form Japan. If the part has a life time guarantee, then it should not fail and a reimbursement would be in order. However, if the design is faulty, $399 + labour is a very expensive way of replacing a brake light. I await you reply with thanks Mr Les Ormrod Was this information helpful?
