[Resolved]  UTI — SCUP-93

UTITSL - UCUP-93
174, 1st Floor,
Rajendra Bhavan (DDA Building),
Rajendra Place,
New Delhi -110008

Dear Mr. Pradeep Shenoy,

I have 2450 UNITS o[censored]TI- SENIOR CITIZENS UNIT PLAN-1993; MEMBERSHIP CERTIFICATE NO- [protected].

Only recently I came to know about the following about the scheme:

"January 10, 2008

UTI Senior Citizen Unit Scheme will cease its business from February 18, 2008 UTI Mutual Fund announces the offer of an alternate health insurance product of New India Assurance Company (NIAC) to the members (upto the age of 58 years) in lieu o[censored]TI Senior Citizen Unit Scheme/Plan (UTI-SCUP), which is being terminated from the close of business on February 18, 2008. However for members above the age of 58 years for whom insurance premia had been paid out of existing investment, there will be no change and NIAC will continue to honour its commitment on hospitalisation cover. UTI-SCUP was launched by erstwhile Unit Trust of India (UTI) in the year 1993 in association with NIAC to provide its members medical cover for hospitalisation on completion of 58 years of age."

If the above news is true then why we were not notified officially. Till date I have no information about the latest UTI policy in lieu of the SCUP-93. Also I have no knowledge about the face value of my units. My medical cover started from 21/03/2007 & I could not claim "no claim bonus" as stipulated in the log book under item # 7, as was away abroad.

Attached scanned copy of my Log book with details. Please let me know
immediately, the course of action you expect us to take. I feel deceived when I needed the benefits of my investment.

Thanks

It is matter of great concern that committed insurance schemes are closed without intimation and proper alternate arrangements are made.It is requested to intimate as to what arrangments are made in this regard. recentely the chaiman IRDA announced that action will be taken against defaulting companies voilatng the terms of cashless health insurance policy. hence this is a fit case to be reported to IRDA by calling 155255 as reported in BUSINESS LINE D/[protected] please do the need full early to get a revised proper updated policy issued by NIAC which is said to have been the successer o[censored]TI in this case failing which justiuce is to be sought from appropriate legal authority Vanka.apparao at mail address ''[protected]@yahoo.com'
I also happen to be one of the victims o[censored]TI -SCUP -1993 Plan gimmik o[censored]TI- NIAC combine with Member ship certificate no. SC[protected] taken on[protected] . I do not know how such schems ment for citizens old age medical insurence cover can be simply closed with out proper intimation or concern to the commitment by the promoters. Unfortunatly, both UTI/ NIAC are Governement of India Under takings and this causes more concern since this ammounts to vouching the praverb " Law Makers are the Law breakers"

I think it is time that all the affected victims of the so called "Senior Citizens welfare schemes like bogus SCUP- 1993 come together and teach the frauds a lesson to at least prevent fellow citizens from falling prey to any such future gimmicks of so called Senior citizens well wishers.

It is frustating and disgusting to have believed and invested in UTI SCUP scheme.

S C U P of U T I — for pass book update of SCUP OF UTI.

My SCUP certificate No: SC[protected]. I got one passbook giving details about me and my spouse.I have retired from Steel Authority of India,Bokaro Steel Plant on 30.06.2008.I have requested to two persons o[censored]ti`s bombay office to guide me to get my passbook updated in kolkata. But nobody is helping me.Would you pl.help me ? from: ( [protected]@ymail.com)
I entered the scheme in 1993 at the time of retirement.Till date I had not availed any benefits for selfr or for wife. I had my open heart surgery in
2002 for which I had used self paid independent alternate policy keeping SCUP as a SANJEEVINI to be used at still later years when no insurance
or renewal etc is possible under any other mediclaim policies. Subsequently relying on availability of SShould they go CUP I had stopped all other mediclaim
polcies. Now I am aged 77 years my wife 67 years. BOTH are left HIGH and DRY. My entire full one time payment made Rs 35000 or so is now
ZERO value.
GOI is talking about introducing various schemes for senior citizens but in a case like mine WHERE IS JUSTICE. I am entitled for a benefit of
around Rs 7 lakhs or more . SCUP is a TOTAL FIXED SUM ASSURED policy which I had bought and paid in full. TILL I exhaust the fixed assured
sum benefit they cannot say go to HELL. Should THEY GO TO HELL or ME!!!

I retired from PSU after serving for almost 30 years and retired at the level of a GM but today I draw no pension and am bewildered what is the social
system we live in.

[protected]@yahoo.com
I joined the UTI SCUP in 1996. Inspite of the fact I underwent a by-pass surgery in 2002 I did not avail of the facilities as provided in the cover per SCUP as no competent hospital was on the list of SCUP in the area. Now since many a reputed hospitals have come up in north India I tried to get a list of the Impaneled hospitals and contact the local UTI office I am not provided sent a reply. The action o[censored]TI in sending the list to the existing members and not informing about the changes that have been brought about in the "contract" is GROSS BREACH of CONTRACT and BAD BUSINESS ETHICS.
I wish that some well informed member of the SCUP to come up with some action plan so that our grievances could be cleared.

UTI SCUP & NIACL Authorities as well as other informed citizens:

My SCUP Membership number is: SC[protected].

My wife and I have not used any medical services under this policy so far.
We have Rs.7, 50, 000 available medical coverage since 03-May-2012.
This was entered in my SCUP Book by the Hyderabad office.

We live at Karimnagar in new Telangana State (Old AP).

My first question is: Can I cash this policy? How much would I get? Who would pay and when?

My second question is: What is the latest list of Hospitals at Karimnagar and Hyderabad / Secunderabad that would accept us for any health services under this SCUP?

Is it a cashless treatment at those hospitals?
If not, can the NIACL give me a written assurance that they would reimburse me in a reasonable time?

Dear Mr. Prakash Banu

You need to contact Ms. Ashwini Sarkhot at [protected]@uti.co.in. She will provide the documentation necessary for obtaining the proceeds of your SCUP investment. It will be @ Rs. 23.2257 per unit. There would be accumulation on the units initially allotted to you.

If you are interested in additional compensation to that will flow to you from UTI, please send me a mail at [protected]@surbhi.co.in. I have started a process for getting UTI to pay additional amount to that being offered for the closure of the scheme.

You do not have to contribute any amount now. I will take compensation only if there is success in additional compensation flowing. Any one interested join me send me mail giving details of investment and redemption received. I need support to make my voice big to be heard.

I, too joined UTI-NIAC Ltd 's SCUP during 1997. No hospital, that I know of, ready to honour medical claim/ service under this scheme. It is a total fraud. -Sandip Das, Guwahati, Assam
I wish to get clarification from those concerned re SCUP-1993 policy as listed below:-

After bonuses from claim-free years I have in my log book showing an amount of Rs. 5 lakhs odd available for the
treatment to be taken in the listed hospitals, for me and my spouse.

My log-book also states:- Date from which additional Medical Cover of Rs 2.5 lakhs is available: 14/5/03.

Despite that I am told the following:-

" There is a maximum limit of Rs.1.5 lakhs per illness per spouse. (in the year of illness with other stipulations)

Regarding No Claim Bonus:- After commencement of risk, Cumulative Bonus of 5% of maximum benefit available at the beginning of each claim free years will be added to the sum insured for subsequent year subject to minimum accumulation for 10 (ten) such claim free years not exceeding 50% in all during the entire policy period."

Why is there a denial of that utilization of the enhance Medical Cover, even though it is mentioned clearly in the log-book as under: -
Date from which additional Medical Cover of Rs 2.5 lakhs is available: 14/5/2003.

When and how that amount is apportioned towards a Member's hospitalization must be clearly explained,
as otherwise suspicions arise.

And what happens if all that money is claimed in illnesses subsequently & ultimately consumed?
Does the Policy get lapsed? terminated? or stands cancelled? Or continued. It must be surely continued.

They said you make a one time payment for your years of Senior Citizens' need of health concerns.

Also at the time of floating the SCUP-93 Scheme it was mentioned that it would be revised to address the
issue of inflation periodically so that it would take care of the increasing costs.

Rs 1.5 lakhs in 1993 is like Rs 40, 000/- or less in today's terms. Where is this promise? Why is this not even being addressed now?

Keeping the limit of Rs 1.5 lakhs as of today's date is like cheating the Senior Citizens of their dues/rights.
NIA needs to address this issue urgently without delay.

Besides when they arbitrarily amended the Scheme, how could such schemes meant for Senior citizens old age be tampered with without proper intimation to the Members at large. What are the arbitrarily amended new terms agreed upon without notification or participation of the SCUP'93 Members affected . I have asked for the distribution
for these new set of terms but to no avail for my comprehension. I only have the Original terms with conditions & promise to revise upwards the amount of insurance in the future, which still not done after 30 years and languishing. Amendments implementing newer terms appear to have been done by the Promoter's (NIA) at their own whims and fancies & have even now failed to increase the upper limit to a decent level.

Class action if it is allowed in this country can solve this issue instantly. Members must commence putting their views and complaints in the public domain to get publicity to bring about changes in the attitude and scheming
behavior of these national behemoths, who don't care about their subjects & live off them like leeches suck the
blood of the human.

God Bless Us Senior Citizens
LJCardozo
Till date there is no positive response about providing medical benefit for the no claim bonus earned under the scheme. On the other hand they are sending reminders to surrender the book and take few hundred rupees as the residual value o[censored]nits!!!
