I purchased a Cross beats Epic headset on 18th September. In the last 2 weeks, I started noticing that my right earbud has very low volume compared to the left earbud. I sent the product to Cross beats for diagnosis and they said that the IC chip is damaged and the possible reasons could be physical damage or charging. They mentioned repair for this isn't possible and I'll need to pay 4299/- for the replacement. This amount is 200/- less than the product price itself.
Their two reasons and my responses to the same
1. Physical damage - I hardly used the product and it was kept so safe that there's not even a single scratch mark that can indicate tampering. To damage the IC chip I literally need to open up the product. Forget opening, I never even dropped it even once
2. Overcharging - I hardly used the product as I mentioned. At max 5-6 times before I faced this problem. There's no way this can be overcharged. There are so many other headsets that I've maintained for more than 3 years now(even beyond their warranty). Moreover, even cheap headsets come with overcharge protection. Lastly, the earbuds charge via power bank. How can I prevent the power bank from over or under charging. This isn't in my control.
I've already spent ~500 in shipping the product twice in the 2 months I had it with me. Cross beats has provided me an unreasonable root cause for something I didn't even do. They've asked me for a charge as high as the earbuds cost itself by quoting some terms and conditions although my point of discussion was something else.
Very poor quality headsets from the company. The service has been is even worse. I hope other customers do not have to go through the trauma I've been going through in just getting a device that functions for atleast a few months.
Please stay away from this brand and spend your money on other trustworthy brands
