Delhi Jal Board — Repeated Harassment by giving inflated meter readings

With reference to the above, we regret the trouble we are going through:

Only a year and a half ago a new meter was installed at the insistence of DJB representative. The meter was inspected and replaced by DJB and was purchased based on the recommendation of DJB. The reason given was that the consumption was very low or not at all and therefore the meter could be faulty. The possibility that we were careful in our consumption was never considered by DJB.

The consumption continued to be low after the meter was changed, and all further payments were made as per the bill received.

We suddenly received a bill (Bill no.[protected] dated 27 Dec 2020) for Rs. 12, 370/-. This is an assessed bill and states that it is ‘Provisional and assessed average’. The previous bill amounts were Rs. 407.6; Rs. 302.58; Rs. 1378.43; Rs. 340.45 and Rs. 245.39.

Then based on an assumed (RDDT) reading, a very high bill was again sent and on approaching DJB our representative was told that we should not pay and wait for the next bill so that the rectification can take place.

The subsequent bill continued to be high with the meter reading status changed to STP. The current outstanding is Rs. 30, 641/-

We believe that this is a purposeful and deliberate harassment and we do not understand the following

What is the basis of the assessed average?

Why are we repeatedly harassed? (Copy of a previous complaint enclosed)

Aug ‘21 Bill copy indicating sudden change again to RDDT for the new meter. Why?

Please acknowledge and suggest the actions you intend to take and what you would like us to do.
