DTDC — Delayed In the service and not informed about the consignment

Hi, I would like to take your attention to a glitch in you this service done by the DTDC courier service. Recently I have send a courier from Jamshedpur division to Hyderabad with Consignment number-K72061313, on Friday 1st august 2014 which should have come on Tuesday 4th 2014. But I was delayed and further it has been returned back to the dispatch address without any formation to the customer more so calling to the concern department they said that as they are not providing service to the particular area so they have to return it back. Is this a proper service provided by DTDC, My question is as there is a provision of keep the consignment in the destination for 3 days why did they returned the courier and why no body called me before doing so.
