[Resolved] HDFC Bank — credit card

I want to close my hdfc credit card account but hdfc bank is asking me to send an application to their chennai head office for credit card closure. It's an expense of rs. 30/- to send the said application by registered post and a long wait till credit card closure. Though other banks like citi and sc initiate credit card closure on request through phone banking. Why is hdfc having such painful procedures as compared to other banks. Verified Support Dec 27, 2017 HDFC Bank Customer Care's response Dear Customer, We are disappointed to understand that you are contemplating to discontinue your credit card relationship with us. Your relationship is important to us and we request you to reconsider your decision of closing the card account giving us an opportunity to be of continuous service to you. If you still wish to close the card account, we request you to forward us a duly signed letter along with your destroyed (diagonally cut) credit card to the following address to enable us do the needful. HDFC Bank Cards Division, PO BOX # 8654, Thiruvanmiyur P.O., Chennai 600 041. For security reasons, we would be unable to process card closure request received through e-mail / Post.
