Hello,

I am K Sagar R/O QT NO G/2/45, Q-Road, Opp South Park, Bistupur, Jamshedpur - 831001. I have a credit card issued by HDFC Bank. Due to COVID situation I lost my job and opted for restructuring of credit card.

The bank has charged me interest rate as per the guidelines for the period where I was unable to make the payment.

However, once I have made the payment for the whole amount was unable to use the card. I called up HDFC phone banking and spoke to Mrs. Seema Begum and Mr Prasanth and Mr Arindam Basu Phone Banking Department (Reference Number - [protected]).

The representative informed me that as per new RBI guideline the card was deactivated after making the payment and I need to apply for new card after 6 months.

NOTE: Before making the payment I called the HDFC phone banking to inform them about payment and requested them for concession on interest charged. The executive informed me that two months interest will be waived, however, there was no information provided stating "The card will be made inactive and I need to apply for fresh card after 6 months."

As per the terms and condition informed by the bank it is clearly stated that, "In case of any further change in the resolution plan or any terms contained herein, the same shall be intimated to the Obligors and shall be binding on them without any further deed or act or writing on part of any of the Obligors and/or the Bank."

Also, please note any decision taken by the bank at their sole discretion should be informed to the customers before implementing. I would have accepted the decision taken by the bank if it was informed to me as stated in Terms and Condition.

NOTE: The HDFC Bank representative has accepted that this is a miss from their end, however, there is nothing they can do on this issue. (Please request for phone records of the conversation from HDFC) This is violation of Right to Information Act.

I want to ask is this the way to treat customers in India and RTI Act is a phrase used in India to show the world India is a democratic country and every person has the rights for correct information. I have a HDFC account since 2015 and a genuine customer making the payments on time and this is the way they are treating customers after COVID pandemic.

Imagine this happening to any illiterate/poor person who just go by the word of bankers and sign the documents given to them.

This is a fraud done by HDFC Bank. Please accept my request and take a stern action and provide me the resolution and compensation for the harassment suffered and for the consequences which I will be suffering in future due to this issue.
