[Resolved]  HDFC Bank — Fraudulent auction of gold ornaments pledged with HDFC for gold loan

I am writing this article to bring to your notice the unfair auction of the gold jewellery pledged by me. We had taken a gold loan for Rs 996500 (G.L. Index No.- 565601, Loan A/c No.- [protected]R10001) on 26/4/12 through HDFC Maidagin road Branch, Varanasi. we had been paying interest in between and we had also reduced the loan principal amount to Rs 796500 by paying Rs 200000 as margin money upfront on 30/7/13 and paid advance interest for 6 months i.e upto 30/1/14. I went to the branch today to pay the accrued interest and the advance interest for the next 6 months since I was out of town recently, I was told that my gold jewellery has been auctioned. Whereas just on 28/5/14 we had a conversation with the bank official Mr. Sanjeev ( Mobile No.- [protected]) and Mr. Himanshu (Maidagin road Branch, Varanasi) on 29/5/14 and we clearly informed them that we would be paying the dues before 4th of June 2014 and they readily accepted. Then why is it that today I am being informed of the jewellery being auctioned already. I believe the bank should have served notice at my residence and the auction should have been advertised in reputed newspapers before taking such action and auction process should have been carried forward in my presence. The officials involved in the auction have no right to open the sealed package in my absence. I believe this to be a huge scam going on in the bank carried out by some officials for their vested interests by forming a nexus with some jewellers as the interest amount was just Rs 41000 and for such a pity amount it is not fair to auction jewellery worth 50 lacs at throw away prices. This is a case of fraud which has put us through mental harassment. I hope the Bank Higher Authorities should step in and investigate the matter and return my entire jewellery as I was always capable and willing to pay the dues of the bank and there was no need to auction my jewellery.
