I have salary account with HDFC bank which got converted into saving account on September 2018 when I left my job. After opening my salary account with HDFC bank through Hexaware technologies Nagpur, I had to settle back to my hometown due to my father's health issue. Since then I was not able to visit home branch where I have my account. I visited local branch (warora, district- chandrapur, Maharashtra) and called customer service in regards of closing account but they were not able to help because this account has not maintainence charges of around 8000 as of now.
I cannot visit Home branch because my current condition does not allow me to do so. I can only visit local branch and they are asking me to Get my account to zero So that, they can further proceed to closing the account.
Please waive off the occured non- maintainence charges of RS 8000 or whatever the exact amount is that had been penalised for not maintaining minimum balance.
It will not effect my civil score but still it feels inconvenient to have dormant account. I confirm that, I will not be able to pay this amount as I am not financially able.
If only Home branch can settle this issue then please arrange a callback from home branch so that, I can convey my message to them.
Kind regards,
Nikhil B.

PS: On my search I found that as per RBI guidelines bank cannot charge a customer for not maintaining minimum balance on a dormant account.
